One sheet wonder

I got inspired yesterday to try this out. I've used the 'Simply Said' stamp set to create a background paper, using some very bright, summery colours. This will remind me of the fantastic summer days we have had, as we head into cooler days. (great for stamping) Using one A4 sheet of background paper, I've created four cards, with even some cardstock to spare. This was a lot of fun to do and is a quick and easy way to make a batch of co-ordinating cards - great for gift idea's.

Some more beach photo's

Yesterday, we went for a walk along the beach. The weather was gorgeous and the boys needed to get rid of some energy. I find the beach is the perfect place to do that. And I always take my camera with me!!! Even I got a picture of me and Kyle this time. Enjoy!

Inspired by paper

The other week, I bought some of this pattern paper made by Crate Paper. I love the paisley print with the flowers on it. I was very happy to just find out that the new SU catalogue has a Paisley Print BG stamp. Can't wait to get it!!

I didn't actually have a play with it until last week when I bought some orange grosgrain ribbon to match. So I've made this cute set of cards using the paper and combining with some SU stamp sets (Seeing Spots, Happy Harmony) I wasn't quite sure about the colours at first but it's growing on me and I'm quite happy with the result now.

Note: The scallop border on Card #2 was done with the Slit Punch.

I was very much inspired by Lee-Anne's set of Mother's Day cards which she made last week. She has used some pretty pattern paper and stamps to create a very beautiful set of cards. Have a look at her blog (link at the left of screen) she is a very talented stamper.

Our day

What's better than enjoying an icecream from Simmo's and spending the afternoon at the beach? Not much according to my three boys. They had a choice between Simmo's and the beach. And of course they chose both. So that's what we did!! On a gorgeous sunny warm day, there's nothing better.

Tyson has Orange & Choc-chip icecream
Kyle has Chunky Monkey icecream (banana & choc-chip)
Liam has Chocolate Trio icecream
Luckily, the boys had finished their ice creams because the goats at Simmo's are apparently 'icecream eating goats'. We saw some other people feeding them and the goats just loved it. I think people buy an icecream, eat half and give the rest to the goats just out of fascination. Funny to watch!!

Some more beach photo's. I can never take enough of them. I always love watching the boys playing and enjoying their time at the beach. They are amazing to watch; they never tire of playing with each other. They especially have fun on the 'surf ski'.

Watercolour

Today I've been making some cards using Watercolour Pencils with watercolour paper. These are my first cards using this technique and it was so much fun. It can be quite time consuming, especially if you have a large stamped image but I think it's worth the effort. I love how this craft combines lots of techniques to make it interesting and exciting.

The first two cards I've used the 'Fishy Friends' stamp set. A fun set to use for children. The images have been stamped with StazOn Jet black so it does not bleed when coming into contact with the water. I've coloured the image with the pencils and then blended the colours using the Aqua Painter to give it a water colour effect. I've spritzed an inked sponge with water and sponged around the stamped image.

Stamp set: Fishy Friends, Canvas, Simple Sayings II (sentiment)
Carstock: More Mustard, Ballet Blue, Old Olive
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Ballet Blue
Accessories: Eyelets, Twine, WaterColour Pencils (non-SU), Aqua Painter, Watercolour Paper

Stamp set: Fishy Friends, All Year Cheer I

Cardstock: Creamy Caramel, Close to Cocoa, Taken with Teal, Apricot Appeal,

Ink: Close to Cocoa, StazOn Jet Black

Accesories: Water Colour Pencils (non-SU), Stampin Wheel, Watercolour paper, Aqua Painter

For this card I've used 'Terrific Tulips'. This is one of my very first sets and I still love it. A very elegant set. I've inked the stamp with colour and then spritzed the stamp with water. The image is stamped onto watercolour paper resulting in a lovely watercolour effect. This was also lots of fun and really easy to do.

Stamp Set: Terrific Tulips, Greetings Galore (sentiment)

Cardstock: Sage Shadow, Perfect Plum, Pale Plum

Ink: Sage Shadow, Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, Elegant Eggplant

Accessories: Watercolour paper, Window Punch, Ribbon

Bitten by the bug

I've been bitten by the bug, the Cuttlebug that is. The Cuttlebug is a wonderful die-cut and embossing tool used for cards and scrapbooking. I've just ordered one today and hopefully it should arrive here in a week. For those who love all things stamping and scrapbooking like me, this is very exciting and I can't wait to get it. I'll keep you posted......

Just a few cards .....

Well, it's been another busy week here. Started off with some really hot weather on the public holiday and also on Tuesday, which saw us at the beach. It was a short week for school because Tuesday was a Student free day. So the weekend came around very quickly. We had a church breakfast social at Yoganup Park which was lots of fun. Also did some visiting of people from the church. So I haven't had heaps of time to make some cards but did manage to sit down tonight to make a few. I have a friends birthday tommorow, so one of these will be for her.

One of my favourite places

One of my favourite places in Busselton is the path that goes all the way along the beach, from Abbey to the Jetty. It's a great place to walk or do some biking. I will often take the boys along here so they can ride and I can do my walking. Very relaxing!!

These photo's were taken on Friday. The weather was rainy one moment and then sunny the next.

Sleep Study

On Wednesday, 28th February, Tyson and Liam had their repeat Sleep Study at PMH. This is to make sure they don't have any Sleep Apnea problems anymore and that the operation was a sucess. We get the results in a few weeks. The boys were so good. They co-operated very well, considering the amount of wires that get attached to them. They had a great sleep, more than mum and dad did anyway!! So here are a few happy pictures.
