hello - Artastic March challenge

Hey there, love the challenge over at Artastic this month!  The inspiration is the picture below and the criteria is Stencils ☺  How fun!

I'm playing along with another holiday snap.  I thought this picture worked very well with the 'arty' theme of the challenge.

I've picked out a few stencils in my stash and used them in different ways on my page - some with paint, some with pen and even a bit of thread.

With texture paste, I've used a diamond stencil and then added paint once dry.
Here is some more texture paint and also some pen work - the words are done using an alphabet stencil.
Using a faux stitching stencil, I've pierced the holes, then added the stitching with blue thread.

All the different stencils gives a very mixed media feel the page and it was fun to create!
Til next time ♥

all dressed up ...

Hello - hope your week is going well ☺  I'm here to share my inspiration for the challenge at ARTastic.

The requirements for the challenge are to have large, bold pattern paper or paint and below is the inspiration picture - by Emma Hack

Here is my page:
I've gone with a similar colour palette to the painting.  My bold pattern paper is a Hambly transparency placed over a blue cardstock base - love the effect of this ☺ And I've used a very recent picture of me and my husband at a wedding we just attended.  Always nice to get a picture together ... all dressed up ☺  Here are some close-up's:
... Kaisercraft and Prima blooms ... swirls of cotton thread and string pearls ... also added in rhinestones and pearls ...
... yellow sticker letters by Prima ... the pattern cardstock is from My Minds Eye ...

Pop over to the ARTastic blog to see more inspiration for this fantastic challenge - we hope you will join us this month - great prizes up for the winner ☺
And sadly, this is my last post for ARTastic - I've been with this challenge blog for about 18 months and have really enjoyed the challenges each month.  So thank you Jane and the rest of the team - I hope to play along from the other side ☺

new norcia

Hello - hope your week has gone well - I have another page to share - this one is for ARTastic - the November challenge - sounds crazy to be saying November - I cannot believe how quickly this year is passing by ☺
The inspiration piece for the challenge is this lovely quilt - how clever and detailed is it?  The challenge for your project is to use fabric and stitching - lots of fun!!

Here's what I've come up with:
... not quite as detailed as the quilt, but rather a bit more simple ☺  I've included some purple fabric as a mat to my photo and also stitching on the fabric...
These are some photo's of our recent camping trip - we stayed at so many places and saw many interesting sights - I would love to make an album with at least once page of each of the places we stayed ☺
Here are some close-up's:
... a crochet flower with a fabric covered button ... AC thickers and tiny star buttons ...
... the purple fabric and stitching - I've used some resin blossoms and also some script stamping in the background ...
... my ever faithful typewriter for journalling (as my printer has decided not to print text anymore :(

Please check out the ARTastic blog for all the details - this is a great and easy challenge and we hope to have lots of players this month - great prizes up for grabs too ☺

Thanks so much for visiting ☺

I'm here to share my inspiration for the latest challenge at ARTastic - this month I'm hosting the challenge and it's all about 'handmade flowers' - inspired by this painting by Liza Posar.

... and here's what I've come up with - a canvas!!  I've also made up a tutorial on how I created this canvas which you can view on the ARTastic blog

The handmade flowers on this canvas were created using this tutorial at: Little Birdie Secrets.

We'd love to see you give this challenge a go - there is a great prize for the winner which I've donated.  Pop over to the ARTastic blog to see all the inspiration from the Design Team and details of the challenge.

always

Hello - I'm here again - this time to share the ARTastic challenge for September ☺
Inspired by this painting you will need to create something with a black background and use geometric shapes.  Fun, hey!!
Here's what I've created:
So many of the paper collections out there have geometric shapes - I've used My Minds Eye for this LO and have cut each hexagon out separately and then adhered onto my black background.
Here are some close-up's:
... I've also used some of the mini chipboard hexagons from the same collection ...
...my title with American craft letters and also Basic Grey little letters ...

So a very simple LO from me with little fuss .... but I love it ♥

We would love for you to join us in this fun challenge - head over to the Artastic blog to check out the details and also more inspiration from the Design Team.  Looking forward to seeing what you create ☺

by the sea

Hello August ☺  Another month is upon us and it's time to introduce the latest challenge at ARTastic.
There are a few exciting changes happening - we are mixing up the challenges a little and the Design Team will be giving tips and tutorials along the way.
This month we have a very fun challenge and one that is quite popular at the moment: MIXED MEDIA INSPIRED ♥  We have the inspiration painting and also some idea's for mixed media from Design Team member Helene - so pop over to the blog and check it all out!!

 Here's my LO:
I was inspired by the colour, using mostly blues and browns with the pop of black.  I've also added in texture using modelling paste and a CW stencil.  Here are close-up's of the details:
... layers of paper including dress-making patterns decoupaged onto the card stock ... I've complimented the beachy theme with twine, shells and muslin ...
... texture created with the CW stencil, modelling paste, mist and ink - I've also added in Dusty Attic chipboard to give it even more dimension ...
... I've used the packaging from some Prima Flowers for the wording banners - perfect for this photo ...

We would love to see lots of entries in our gallery this month - there are some gorgeous prizes to be won.  Be sure to check out the ARTastic blog and also the inspiration from the Design Team.  We hope you enjoy the 'new look' ARTastic and challenges ☺

summer days

Looking for a bright and colourful challenge - we have one over at ARTastic this month.  Be inspired by this painting and create something BRIGHT ☺

Here is my Design Team inspiration:

This challenge worked well for summer holiday pictures.  I've used bright and colourful papers from Echo Park and teamed them with fun embellishments!
Here are some close-up's:

... Fimo embellishments from my friend Leeann - colourful doilies and a rolled felt rose from Polly Scrap Kits ...
... some misting in the backgound with a sticker cloud and fimo cloud ...
... strips of coloured papers and a fun star button - my computer journalling ...

We would love to see you join in this month - check out the details at the ARTastic blog.  There is also a Design Team call - lots of fun stuff happening ☺
Hope to see you at ARTastic.

happiness

Another post for today☺  I'm here to show you my LO for the challenge at ARTastic!!  As well as the inspiration picture we have the added criteria of insects - either in your photo or as an embellishment.
Here's what I've come up with:
This photo was taken by my oldest boy who loves to walk around with my camera and take pictures.  I think he did such a great job to capture this lady bug on a 'bird of paradise' flower.
I've kept the LO rather simple; creating a cluster of embellishments with the tags and also adding in some misting.  Here are some close-up's:
... chipboard from Scrap FX - painted white and I've added some Kindy glitz and marker pens to add colour ... Kaisercraft flowers and twine ...
... American craft thickers and my little quote...

And here is the inspiration painting:

We would love to see you play along this month - this challenge is great for those scenic or nature photo's you may have.  There's prizes for the winning entries ☺  Check out more inspiration from the Design Team at the ARTastic blog.
Thanks again for coming by and hello to all my newest followers ☺

soccer grand final

Hello, hope you have all been enjoying a lovely weekend.  I have my LO to share for the new challenge at ARTastic.  I think you will all like the theme for this one - SPORTS!!  This works nicely for all those Saturday sports photo's you may have around ☺
Here's what I've created:
These are some photo's from last year, when my oldest boy played in their soccer grand final - in which his team also won - such an exciting moment ☺
I had papers from Bella Blvd with the sporting theme, in my stash, so these worked great for this LO.
Here are some close-up's:
... a super star from Charms Creations ... some tabs which I've made from a Stampin'Up punch and words from my typewriter ...
... star shapes ... background misting with stencils and glimmer mists ...
... American Thickers letters and also tiny letters from Carolee's Creations ...

And here is the painting for your inspiration - what a fantastic piece of art:
Pop over to the ARTastic blog for lots of inspiration from the Design Team - we would really love to have lots people join us this month - it's a fun challenge and there are prizes to go along with the

tea party

Welcome to April - the start of cooler weather, falling leaves and school holidays ☺
I have my LO to share for ARTastic.  A few things have changed recently with the challenges, so make sure you pop over to the blog to check it out.  It's all good fun!!
As well as the inspiration picture, your LO needs to be themed around FOOD.
This is what I've come up with:
These photo's are from my sister recent kitchen tea and they were perfect to use for this challenge.  It was also a good excuse to make a pretty LO with flowers.
So I had fun with misting, gesso, pretty flowers and glittery letters ☺
So here are some close-up's:
... Prima flowers, Prima mask with misting, AC Thickers ...
... handmade bird button, Kaisercraft bloomers, twine, Kaisercraft pattern papers (Hummingbird) ...
... and here is the inspiration picture!!
We hope you can join us in this challenge - it's a fun and easy one and there are lots of fabulous prizes too.
Enjoy the rest of your week - we've finally had some much needed rain and it's a lovely change. Thanks for coming by!!

fun

Over at ARTastic, we have a great challenge, especially for using all those photo's from Summer!!  Using the painting as inspiration we also have some added criteria:
Palm trees or palm leaves
Photo taken at beach
2-3 beach embellishments

Here's the LO I came up with:
I got a bit 'arty' with this page and used some gesso, paint and stamps to make up some texture in the background - just enough to give it some colour.
I've used some Kaisercraft papers for the Palm Trees and the rest is from Simple Stories.
Here are some close-up's:
... the little tag banner with beach embellishments and a chipboard beach hut ...
... the chipboard beach hut designed by Leeann Pearce ...
... and some more fun embellishments from the Chip-Chop Shop ...

and here is the inspiration painting - very beachy and summery!!We would love to see you all play along this month and especially welcome newcomers!!  There are great prizes and the criteria makes for a very fun challenge.  Pop over to the blog to view all the details of how to join in and also check out the inspiration from the Design Team - we hope to see you there.
