so much fun - once upon a sketch June challenge

Hello and happy Monday!  Another new week - I hope to have a few posts this week ☺
Today, I'm sharing my page for the Once Upon a Sketch June challenge - here is the sketch and the journalling theme is:  "the best things in life aren't things'

Here is my take on the challenge:

I've chosen this particular photo taken by one of my boys.  It captures his youngest brother playing in the rain and puddles.  One of his favourite things to do!!
Most of the products on this page are by Heidi Swapp.
Here are some close-up's:

I loved adding layers to this page with the papers and frames.  Also used some fun resist pieces with the Colour Shine and some stars.  I found some really cool stamps recently - one of them is a large ink splatter which I've used to imitate the 'splashing in the puddles'.

Another fun challenge and page completed ☺
Thanks so much for coming by.
Created with love and happiness ♥

April sketch for The Scrapbook Store

Hello!!  Coming to you on the first day of April ☺  We are well into Autumn now, still enjoying beautiful sunny days, but the temps are more mild and we have even received rain - such a blessing.
Just popping in to share the sketch for The Scrapbook Store.  It's by Page Maps and I love the clustered design of this one ☺

I flipped the sketch over to the side, so the title is at the top and I've also used two smaller photo's.
So here I've used some cute pictures of my youngest at the park - outdoor photo's are always fun!!
I've used some American Craft papers and some of the resist die-cuts by Heidi Swapp.  I'm having so much fun with these!!  I've included plenty of texture and other little embellishments too.
Here are some close-up's:
Here I've used assorted 'resist' shapes from the HS Ephemera Pack and used Colour Shine to give them some gorgeous colour.  The resist effect reveals gorgeous patterns and words on each piece.  So much fun!!  I can't stop using them ☺
I've also used Heidi Swapp arrow stickers.
Here is a little look at the texture work - it is made up of a few layers - gesso, paint and modelling paste.  I've also given it more depth using stamps.
For a banner feel, I've included twine and mini pegs - couldn't resist that ☻
There's lots of different circle elements in this sketch; I've made use of doilies, stamps and circle punches to help with the design.

Product used:

American Crafts pattern papers
Paper lace doilies
Circle punch
Prima stitched circle stamps
mini pegs
twine
paint
gesso
modelling paste
espresso ink
black pen
tape

I hope you can join in this month - there is a $40.00 voucher for the random winner - be sure to post your page in our gallery
Thanks for coming by ♥

live every moment

Hey everyone, hope your week is going well ☺  I'm here to share another page using my March DT kit from The Scrapbook Store.  I'm loving creating with MME - Izzy collection from Now & Then.  Super fun - I love their patterns on the 12x12 and am finding that I don't need to shy away from these ones ☺

My oldest son has been sharing my camera with me, using it for his digital media classes.  So I'm getting some lovely pictures to use for my scrapbooking!!  This picture was one of them.
With a busy stripey background, I've keep the design quite simple and I love how it's turned out.
Here are some close-up's:

I've made a banner with a 3x4 journal card and elements from the Ephemera Pack!  I've also used a banner from Heidi Swapp - Ephemera Pack.  The wooden hearts are by Studio Calico.
I've matted my photo onto a white lunch bag and pattern paper.  I love the flair pins, they measure 3cm across, so are a little bigger than your average flair!!
Here's another view of the banner.  I've used some little sticker words for my journal work - these are also MME.  You get four stickers sheets in the pack - great value ☺

Products used:
white lunch bag
MME - sticker words
MME - Flair Pins
cotton thread
script stamp
espresso ink

I have one more page to share from this fun collection - I will be back with that real soon.
Thank you so much for taking the time to check my blog ♥♥

backyard boy

Hello crafty people .......... and hello March!!  Already ☺  Today I'm sharing my take on the sketch for The Scrapbook Store.  Check out this fun sketch, full of cool elements.  Remember, sketches are a starting point - a fun place of inspiration ☺

Project: March Sketch - TSS
Title - Backyard Boy

 And here is my page:
I've stayed true to the over-all feel of the sketch - just flipping it over to one side.  I've also used two smaller photo's of my happy little man ☺
I've used some bright and happy papers by Bella Boulevard as well as Heidi Swapp Color Magic + Colour Shine.  My title is chipboard by Blue Fern Studios.'
Here are the details and close-up's:
Color Magic + Color Shine = a great combination - lots of fun and shimmer ☺  This heart is from the Resist Ephemera Pack - it's filled with lots of fun shapes which have a resist pattern on them - the pattern is revealed once you've sprayed over with Color Shine.
And here are more elements from the same pack - I've used assorted Color Shine sprays.
For the title: I've covered in gesso and then sprayed over with Color Shine - inking the edges once dry.

Product used:
espresso ink
black pen
script stamp
modelling paste

Please check the gallery for more inspiration - we hope you can play along this month - as always there is a lovely $40.00 voucher for the randomly picked winner.

November Sketch Challenge - The Scrapbook Store

Hey everyone, today I'd like to share with you my DT inspiration for the November sketch at The Scrapbook Store.  We have another fabulous sketch to work with - I love the mixed media feel about this one ☺

Here is my take on the sketch:

I decided to use the 'splatter' element of the sketch and got out my mists and inks.  Here I've used some Heidi Swapp mists.  Instead of spraying them directly on to my page, I've used some clear acetate. I've sprayed a light colour and then added in a darker colour over the top, then pressed the white paper down onto the acetate.  I did add a small amount of water to give a water colour look.  Later when it was dry, I flicked more of the mist over the page for some darker high lights and also to let some of the ink run down the page.  It was a fun way to add mist ☺
I've used the Family Stories paper collection by Teresa Collins - perfect for this photo ♥♥
Here are some close-up's:
I love adding my own touch of embellishments - here I've used a scallop punch to create this flower.  I've also free-cut some leaves to add in as well.  I love the dimension it adds to the page ☺
I've also used a woodgrain stamp on white cardstock to create my own pattern paper ☺
The die-cut elements in this collection are wonderful and fun to work with.
A closer look at some of the misting - I've also added more details like the sequins and script stamp.

Product used:
Family Stories stamp - Teresa Collins
script stamp
cotton thread
espresso ink
metal clamp
sequins
scallop punch
resin blossom
woodgrain stamp

We would love to see you play along this month - as always there is a $40.00 voucher for the randomly picked winner - what a fantastic prize ☺  Please check the gallery for more inspiration.   Thanks so much for coming by ♥

Simple Stories - Say Cheese Collection - The Scrapbook Store

Hello - this week has allowed me some quieter days of crafting which has been wonderful.  This is my second page using my DT Kit of 'Say Cheese' by Simple Stories for The Scrapbook Store.  I'm enjoying this collection, the colours are wonderful and the designs on the papers are so fun.
Check out the background paper of this layout ............
I managed to get a bunch of photo's of my boys last week, so I'm using a number of them for this collection ☺
The background paper in this page is the 12x12 pattern paper Fun - I really didn't want to cover it up too much.  As well as this collection, I've also used some Distress Glitter by Ranger and a Heidi Swapp stencil - here are some close-up's:

A Magic Moment is my title - the word 'magic' is a chipboard sticker from this collection.  You can also see a strip of glitter - I've placed down a strip of double-sided tape and sprinkled with the 'fired brick' Distress Glitter - adds some wonderful sparkle to the page ☺
I just LOVE chipboard stickers and the ones in this collection are so cute - they really add dimension to the page too!!
The die-cut camera is from the Sn@p cuts and I've added a chipboard sticker heart to it too.  As some background texture, I've used the Heidi Swapp 6x6 stencil Confetti with texture paste.  This stencil is just adorable - it's got hearts, stars and dots all on the one stencil!!  Love, LOVE ☺

I hope you are enjoying this collection so far - I've plenty more to share during this month ☺  In the meantime, please check The Scrapbook Store online to view the entire collection.

Products used:
Double sided tape
Modelling paste
cotton thread
mist
typewriter journal work
script stamp
espresso ink

Elle's Studio - Cameron Collection - The Scrapbook Store

Hello to you all ☺  I have one more page to share using my DT kit for August from The Scrapbook Store - I had lots of fun creating with the Cameron Collection by Elle's Studio.  Here I've done another Project Life page!
This is Week 27 (yes, I'm a little way behind, but determined to keep chugging along with this, because I really want to have that full album by the end of the year ☺)
I've used some of the pattern papers from this collection and also some tabs.  Here are some close-up's:

I tend to treat each pocket like a mini scrapbook page, especially if I'm using a white cardstock background like here.  I've cut out some of the pattern paper 'High Five' which has a cute brick pattern with printed words and arrows.  It was perfect for this photo!  I've added in a raw chipboard arrow from TSS and the white hearts have been made using a white pen and the Heidi Swapp spray stencil - confetti.
My background 4x6 card is the pattern paper Evidence - I've layered a paper lace doily, a circle tag and a little photo.  My embellishment is a flair badge by Greatest View - did you know that The Scrapbook Store now stocks these fabulous badges?? ☺
I've finished it off with some twine!
These two centre pockets are made with the tabs.  I love them with the pre-printed words and graphics - make it very easy to add to your PL page.
I will tend to have one pocket designated to my journal work which gives a brief overview of my week.  Here I've used a strip of pattern paper Big Dots along the bottom edge.
The stamps are assorted from my stash ☺

Be sure to check out this collection in store - there's still some left and you will love working with this one ☺  Thanks so much for visiting me and I appreciate all the love you leave.  Enjoy your weekend ♥

love = life.paper.scrapbook sketch #2

just a bit of 'just because' scrapbooking - very rare these days but this was fun.  I was digging around thru some older photo's and found this one of my oldest boy - taken in 2009 - wow, I can tell he's grown up so much in these past few years ☺
I've also played along with Sketch #2 at Life.Paper.Scrapbook
I loved the circle elements of the sketch and as I tend to do with sketches - stayed true to the design.  Here are some close-up's:

...I've cut circles from some packaging - love the spots - and then stamped around each circle element using assorted stamps ... a little chevron bag is from The Greatest View - I purchased some of their goodies recently and am LOVING them ... and a wood veneer from Studio Calico ...
... these alphabet letters are by Heidi Swapp - they are the Colour Magic Chipboard Alphas and I've used them with Colour Shine - Mustard ... the little word stickers are by MME ...
... some strips of MME paper and more of the cute little word stickers - so great for journalling ... I've used a Kaisercraft rub-on quote on the photo ...
... a flair button from The Greatest View and another circle element...

And here is the sketch - so much room for different interpretations - I love all the white space ☺
Thanks for coming by - I can't believe we are nearly on to March - another month means all new challenges to look forward to - so I will have lots to share soon ☺
