Creatalicious Challenge #3

I've made a card for the latest challenge from Bec at Creatalicious Challenges. The challenge is to create a card using scraps of Designer Paper, new cardstock and a handmade flower! So here's my creation:

I've used Gretal, one of the sweet Swiss Pixies stamps.

I've teamed this up with coloured cardstock - Choc Chip, Close to Cocoa and Rose Red; then added some DP from Rasberry Tart which was in my left-over basket.

For the main image, I've stamped onto white cardstock in Stazon black, then coloured with ink pads and aqua painters. I've added dimensional magic to the wings!

The handmade flower embellisment has been made with fabric, felt and some of the wide double-stitched SU ribbon in Rose Red. I've added a button and twine to the centre.

The sentiment is from Best Yet (hostess set) and I've added some So Saffron ribbon to complete the card.

I love to incorporate fabric into my creations, so this was a fun challenge to do. Thanks Bec!!

Inkspiration Colour Challenge #15

I'm back after a lovely break and holiday in Bali with our boys. It was a real treat to spend some time just relaxing, eating out, sun-baking and enjoying each others company. Now it's back into normal routines again; always a little hard after doing 'nothing' for a week.

So here's this weeks challenge from Makeesha. We had these lovely 'earth' colours to work with:

And here's my creation:

I've made up this small card using the Organics Outlines stamp set, one of my favourites.

I've started off with a base card in the Close to Cocoa, then added layers in each of the colours - Rust, Choc and Vanilla. Onto the Vanilla cardstock, I've stamped up one of the images in Choc Chip and Rust ink. Then I've added a strip of Choc cardstock onto which I've used the Eyelet border punch. Then sentiment is from Best Yet (hostess set) and I've used various punches to cut out. Then I've added a small crochet flower with a half pearl.

I found some lace doilies and table clothes this past week at one of the local op-shops. If you've seen them, you will notice they have crocheted flowers on them. So I've been busy cutting them out to use on my craft projects. I think they are just gorgeous.

I couldn't leave this challenge with just a small card, so I've also made up this 8x8 scrapbook layout, with this super cute photo of my Caden. The photo was a perfect match for these colours!

For this page, I've used the Wild about You stamp set. It's such a great set to use for boys. I've stamped them onto Vanilla cardstock, cut out then mounted with dimensionals.

You will notice another lace doily - this one has been dyed in coffee - delicious. It adds such great texture to the page. I've also used some twine and stamped the 'wild about you' sentiment on it in Choc Chip. Then I've added a small button with some twine.

The final embellisment is a heart using the heart SU punch. I've added some buttons, the bird image from the same stamp set and a little paper clip with twine.

Inkspiration Sketch Challenge #15

Hello, I hope you've all had a great week. I've scheduled this post, as we are still on holidays, so I can show you what I've created for Makeesha's next challenge. This week it's a sketch and here it is:

And here's my creation:

Oh this sketch was so much fun. I've used this sweet cupcake image - doesn't it look so pretty in pink!

Well, I've started out with a base card in Pretty in Pink - this card measures 5.5" square.

Then I've layered on some DP from Candy Lane. I've also added some strips as per the sketch with the same DP and also Riding Hood Red.

Next up, I've stamped up the image in Black Stazon, onto Watercolour paper, then used my SU markers and aqua painter to colour in. I've layered this onto a circle of Pretty in Pink.

I've used some striped Pink Pirouette ribbon, buttons and a rub-on for the sentiment. The rub-on is from the Hand-drawn bundle which is a Level 3 Hostess set. I love that saying!

Lastly I've added some rows of paper piercing.

I just LOVE all the pink in this card - will be perfect for a little girl!

Inkspiration Inspiration Challenge #14

Another Friday is here - hope you've all had a lovely week. I have been busy packing, we leave today for a holiday with our boys. So hopefully this scheduled post is coming to you!
It's time for another fabulous Inspiration Challenge and Makeesha has picked out this gorgeous bedding to help you get inspired. It looks so beachy and summery, don't you think!

Here's my creation:

I've used the quilt cover has my inspiration and I'm sure that somewhere in the house, there will be a row beach thongs!
So I've started with a base card in Whisper White, then layered various cardstocks in Bashful Blue, Taken with Teal, Certain Celery and Basic Grey, to imitate the quilt cover pattern. I've used the Sprinkles stamp set on the Teal and Blue strips.
For the main image, I've used Just Beachy, and picked out the beach thongs. I've inked up in Stazon Black, stamped onto some watercolour paper and then used the Aqua painter and ink pads to colour them in. I've added a small rhinestone to the pair in the middle.
Then I've added some wide Celery ribbon, tied in a knot. The sentiment has been stamped in Teal and I've used the Window punch and a small rhinestone to complete it.

All things pretty

Here's a scrapbook page made with all things pretty - namely, fabric, lace and buttons.

I've used this sweet picture of Amber, all dressed up as Little Red Riding Hood.

I chose to use Riding Hood Red cardstock as the base, seeing as the photo had lots of red as well. To create contrast, I've layered some fabric and lace to one side of the layout, then added the photo. I've used Tidy Alphabet for the title. And I've printed out some journalling and matted onto some Mellow Moss cardstock. Both of these pieces have been crumpled up, to give a textured look.
I've used my little craft sewing machine to add some stitching across the top of the layout. Though it didn't really co-operate with the layers, so it does have a rather messy look!!
I've added the large flower embellisment next to the photo and also used the Trio Flower punch to make up three smaller flowers for brads in the centre.

Well let me know what you think of my fabric scrapbooking. There's something about having texture on a page and I love to explore the various styles in my scrapbooking world.

This will be my last post for a week or so, though I do have a few scheduled posts for the DT challenges. We are going on holidays with the boys and I'm really looking forward to this special treat; to just relax and have some fun in the sun. So til next time....

I created this card after I saw a BEAUTIFUL card made by the lovely Lee-Anne. Her work is always gorgeous and I'm always inspired by her creations. I LOVED this one so much, that I just had to CASE it, immediately. I remembered the Top-Note die-cuts I had sitting on my desk, given to me by my friend Marion, so I thought one of these would work perfectly.

So here is the card I made after being inspired...............

I've used the colours Bordering Blue, Kiwi Kiss, Very Vanilla and some Urban Garden Designer paper. You can see the Top-Note die-cut peaking out on the left-hand side of the card - oh how I wish Stampin'Up would sell them here in Australia!
The flower image is from a hostess stamp set of last years catalogue - Oh So Lovely. These are such elegant images and fun to colour-in. I've used the Best Yet (hostess set) for the sentiment .
The eyelet border punch has been used along the bottom and I think it really suits the style of this card - that being 'elegantly vintage'.
I had some lace ribbon in my stash so I've used this with a Kiwi Kiss button to finish off the card.

I'm so pleased with this card. It's not often that I CASE a card - most of the time, they don't quite work out how I planned. So thank you Lee-Anne for your inspiration.

Mojo Monday Sketch #109

Here's a card I made for the Mojo Monday Sketch #109. Below is the sketch we had to work with and you can check out all the details at the Mojo Monday Sketch Blog

And here's my creation:

I've picked out another colour combo that I wouldn't normally use, but it worked well.

I've started off with a base card in Tempting Turquoise, then added pieces of Riding Hood Red and Regal Rose as per the sketch. Along the bottom of the Red cardstock, I've stamped the flourish image in Versamark.

For the main image, I've used the stamp set Friends 24-7 and I've gone with the bird image. First I've stamped in onto some Whisper White cardstock in Sahara Sand ink. Then on another piece of white cardstock, I've inked up the bird with Turquiose and Red. I did this with a baby-wipe, allowing the ink to soak into the baby-wipe, then dabbing it onto the stamp. Once stamped onto the white cardstock, it gives a nice watercolour effect. The bird image has been cut out and mounted onto the card layout. I've matted this onto some Turquoise cardstock and a small piece of Designer Series Patterned Paper in the Riding Hood Red. Here is a closer look at the bird:

To finish off the card as per the sketch, I've stamped up a part of the sentiment and used the circle punches and scallop punch to create the centre embellisment. I've also added a small button with some twine. Lastly, I've used some wide Regal Rose ribbon .

Well, this was a fun sketch and I would love to use it again, maybe for some scrapbooking.

Sweet Sunday Sketch #40

Karen from The Sweetest Thing has weekly sketches; I've always loved looking at them and keep meaning to have a go, but it doesn't seem to happen. So I changed that and made a creation for her latest sketch.

Here is the sketch to work with:

And here's my creation:

I was looking to use a colour I hadn't used for a while and I chose Tangerine Tango. This bright colour matched up nicely with Baja Breeeze and Kraft.

So I've started with a base card in craft, then added a piece of the Designer Series paper in Tangerine Tango. I've used the eyelet border punch to add a strip along one side of the Tangerine.

Then with assorted DP and cardstock, I've punches out NINE circles to follow the sketch. The Baja Breeze has been stamped with the flower from Seeing Spots. I've added a few embellishments such as the button in Baja, a small rhinestone and a flower brad.

Lastly, I've added a sentiment from Best Yet and a row of paper piercing.

So there you have it, my first creation with the SSS - thanks Karen. I also have to say thanks to Sarah-Jane who inspires me greatly - her creations for these sketches are always fabulous. And I love that sweet and simply style which these sketches lend themselves to.

Inkspiration Colour Challenge #14

Happy Friday everyone. It's a gorgeous day here, the sun is shining and it's starting to feel like Spring. On to this weeks challenge from Makeesha. It's time for a colour challenge and here are the lovely colours we had to work with:

And here's my creation:

I've used the Friends 24-7 stamp set; one of my favourites. And today I chose to use the beautiful flower image from this set.

So I've started off with my base card in Basic Grey and used the En Francais BG stamp in Basic Grey ink.

Then I've layered some assorted pieices of cardstock in Pretty in Pink, Basic Black and Whisper White to make up the card layout. On the Pink, I've stamped the flourish image in Pretty in Pink ink. On the Whisper White, I've inked up the flower image in Stazon black, stamped onto the cardstock, then coloured in with ink pads and Aqua Painter. I've stamped the flower a second time onto some white cardstock, so I could cut out the little flowers and mount them onto the card - creating more of a 3d look. I've added some glitter to these flowers too.

I've used the sentiment from the same set and used the Eyelet border punch to go under the words.
Then I've finished off my card with some ribbon that I had in my stash and some small pink rhinestones.

Canvas scrapbooking

This is a little project I've been creating in the past few days. For my love of fabric, buttons, felt and paper - I've combined them all with some stampin' inbetween.
This photo of my adorable Caden was taken by my sister Aimee and has been enlarged to a 5x7. I've made a collage effect of various cardstock, fabric, hemp and ribbon.
For the embellishments, I've used the sweet Forest Friends stamp set. I've inked up the tree and stamped directly onto the fabric, then placed a button in the centre, tied off with twine.
The tag is recycled from some clothing; I've cut a piece of felt for the heart image and added a few coloured buttons. Then I've stamped up the little bunny image in Close to Cocoa onto Vanilla cardstock, cut out, then mounted onto the felt. I've used some Celery ribbon to finish off the tag. Here's a closer look at the embellisment.

Well, this was so much fun and I really enjoyed working on the canvas with some different mediums. I love combining stamping with fabric and seeing how they come together. This peice of art will make a lovely display that I'm very pleased with!

Just wanted to share with you another layout I've completed recently. It's another picture of Amber - her little album is aquiring alot of pages lately.
I wanted to use bright colours for this one, so I went with the Pink Flamingo DP and teamed it up with Riding Hood Red, Tempting Turquoise and Regal Rose. Very bright and cheery.
There's not alot of stamping on this layout - I've used the Tres Chic BG stamp on the Turquoise cardstock - I love all the words on this stamp and it makes a great background. Using various punches and Designer paper, I've made a flower which has been crumpled to give a textured look. I've added another one up the top with the little sentiment ' love you much ' from Family Phrases. The I've finished off with some buttons and striped ribbon.

Scrapbooking with Sketch #14

I'm back with another scrapbook page - yes another one. I've been enjoying it heaps. I've used Makeesha's sketch from her latest challenge. You can see all the details here

I've scrapbooked this very cute picture of my niece Amber, who is having a great time at the park!
So I've started off with a base in Kiwi Kiss and used the Sprinkles stamp set to create the background. Then I've layered some Rose Red and Regal Rose cardstock as per the sketch and then added the picture. I've used a strip of DP from Rasberry Tart, added some cute little butterfly images, some flowers and pearls from the Pretties Kit and a word from Life's Definitions. I've chosen the word 'favourite' as I know that the playground is one of Amber's favourite places to be.

Inkspiration Sketch Challenge #14

Today's challenge from Makeesha for her Inkspiration Challenges is a sketch. And here is the sketch - super cute and you could really do alot with this one.

Here's my creation:

I've teamed up Forest Friends stamp set with Sweet Always Designer Paper. These colours work well together and seeing as this card is for a sweet little girl - it's a perfect combination.

I've started of with a base card in Regal Rose, then layered DP and cardstock as per the sketch.

For the main image, I've coloured in the tree with the SU markers and stamped directly onto the cardstock. The bunny and owl have been stamped onto Whisper White, cut out and then mounted onto the card.

I've used Best Yet (hostess stamp set) for the sentiment and placed it in one of the images from Gallery - a new set from the Spring Mini. To get it all lined up nicely I have used the Stamp-a-ma-jig. Then I've cut it out and also mounted onto the card with dimensionals.

I've finished off the card with some Pink Pirouette ribbon and a flower brad.

Curtain Call Colour Challenge #5

It's been a little while since I've done on of Stacey's Colour Challenges. I poped over to see the colours and look what I found - don't these colours looks fabulous together - very Spring like and happy! I like that.
So here's my creation:

I've started with a base card in Lavender Lace, then added layers of Turquoise and Pumpkin Pie. Then with a piece of Whisper White, I've used the Organic Outlines stamp set, both images inked up in the Lavender Lace ink.

Next I've made some paper flowers using various pieces of Designer paper, cardstocka and punches. Each layer has been crumpled to give some texture, and then I've added a brad to pin it together. Then I've simply placed onto the card layout.

The card has been finished off with some ribbon, a white button and a sentiment from the same set.

Here's another scrapbook page, I've had this one waiting to show you as I mentioned the other day. This is the other style of scrapbooking that I'm really LOVING at the moment -using felt and fabric!
This is another page to add to my little Caden's album. He's about five months old here and giving me the sweetest hug. It's not often we get to have our picture taken together.
I've used Kraft cardstock as the base and stamped the leaf image from Organic Outlines in Sahara Sand ink. I've matted the photo onto Regal Rose and Baja Breeze cardstock, tearing along one side. Then I've tied some pretty lace from my stash and added one of my handmade flowers made with peices of fabric and felt. A corduroy brad in Baja Breeze has pinned it all together.
The letters are also from my stash - and the wording at the bottom on the layout is the from Always stamp set.

Forest Friends

A new stamp set that I've aquired recently is Forest Friends. The little animals images are just adorable and it's a perfect set to make sweet cards or use for scrapbooking baby photo's; as I'm doing at the moment.
First up I have this small square card.
I've started of with a base card in Kraft, then added the two strips of Certain Celery and So Saffron cardstock. On the Celery cardstock, I've used the Friendly Words wheel to make a background. I've used some of the Celery ribbon from last months promotion. Then I've stamped the three images onto Whisper White cardstock, using marker pens and ink pads, then cut out and mounted onto the card. It gives more of a 3-D effect this way and I really don't mind cutting!! Then I've finished off the card with a button and twine.

Onto the scrapbook page. As I mentioned before, this set is great for baby albums. I'm getting around to scraping all the pages of Caden's 1st year, to make up a small album for him. And it's nice going back, looking at the photo's and remember certain moments, wondering where the time disappear too.

This picture goes back to his first months - a very sweet moment sucking his thumb. Something he only did for a short while.

The colours for this page are Ballet Blue, Barely Banana and Choc Chip. I've used the Tres Chic BG stamp on the Banana cardstock. With a strip of Choc Chip, I've used the eyelet border punch to create the edge along the bottom of the page. Once you have finished with this punch, you will notice that you are left with a very thin strip of cardstock. I've also used this peice on my layout which the tree and deer sit on. It's amazing what you can do with the left-over peices of cardstock!

I've also used one of my favs - Tidy Alphabet stamp (retired) And then I've completed the page with a row of paper piercing.

I'm glad I could finally share some more creations with you. I do have another layout already made up, using fabric and felt; so I will be sure to share that with you very soon as well.

Inkspiration Inspiration Challenge #13

I hope you're all well on this Friday - already one week into school holidays. It's been wonderful so far and nice to have no school routines. Not alot of stamping was done, but I did find a new shelf for my craft room, so I was busy re-organising (as I love to do) and re-arranging my supplies. And once again, it looks neat - I love it.
So it's challenge time again and that means I def. have something to show you! This week we were inspired by this picture - a table setting! I have to admit that I did find this a little difficult and nothing really poped up in my head; that is until I opened my new pack of DP Pink Flamingo!!
So here's my creation:

Not alot of stamping done on this card. I went with a dinner party theme, invitation style - maybe for Christmas!

I've started off with a base card in Real Red, then added a layer of Whisper White. I've used some strips of DP from Pink Flamingo. Then with the tag, I've cut out one of the flowers from the Designer Paper,mounted it onto the tag then added a green corduroy button and a clip. The card has been finished off with some wide grosgrain ribbon in Real Red and I've used the Family Favourites stamp set for the 'lets celebrate'.

Inkspiration Colour Challenge #13

WOW, it's Friday already, the week just flies by!! The Inkspiration Challenge for this week is this fabulous colour combo:
And here's what I've come up with - I had to laugh though. These are the pefect colours for a masculine card, but instead, I've come up with something pretty!!

A cute 'little' bag and matching card. The card is a standard size, so you are able to judge by that - the little bag is quite small, BUT very cute. Perfect for a small gift or some chocolates.

There's lots of Old Olive in both the card and the bag. I've used Fifth Ave Floral, the very beautiful rose image. I've stamped the image onto the base card and also on Watercolour paper, so I could colour in with my ink pads and aqua painter and get that lovely watercolour effect. Then I've cut out and sponged the edges, mounting onto the card with dimensionals.

The small strip of DP is from Urban Garden and worked perfectly to make up the colours.

I've used my eyelet border punch on the Vanilla strip. Across the top, I've added some paper piercing and the word friends, which I've picked up with the SU marker pen in choc chip from the Best Yet stamp set.

Here's a closer look at some of the detail.

On to the little bag - I've kept the style similar to the card, imitating the strips of cardstock and DP. For the flower embellisment, I've cut out some chocolate felt, added a button and tied off with some twine. The handle is with the grosgrain choc chip ribbon.

It's the start of school holidays, two weeks of no routine and rushing around; lots of time to relax with the kids. I'm going to enjoy it. So til the next time I get back here......

Scrapbooking Pic of the Week

I've finally managed to get back here and show you my Pic of the Week (from last week) in a scrapbook layout. I went with a sketch challenge from Totally Addicted to Sketch. If you haven't seen this site, pop over and have a look - you won't be disappointed - there sketches are amazing. So here is the sketch they have up at the moment:

This is a 12x12 layout and I've used just an ordinary size photo - 4x6. So there is alot of blank space, but it has still balanced out great.

I've started off with a background in More Mustard cardstock. With my Stampin' wheel - Friendly Words - I've inked up in the Versamark and then rolled around edge edge, rolling over each other a number of times. Then I've sponged all the edges.

I've added some layers of cardstock and DP as per the sketch, in Choc Chip and Not quite Navy.

I've gone with Organic Outlines to make the leaf images. I've stamped one onto the Mustard cardstock and two have been stamped onto other cardstocks, then cut out and mounted onto the layout with dimensions. These edges have been sponged with ink and I've added some small peices of bling! The heart image is a piece of felt with a button attached using twine.

Then I've finished off the layout with the title and some small words.

Inkspirations Sketch Challenge #13

Well I'm already going onto my third challenge with the Inkspiration Challenges held weekly from Makeesha. It's great to have these creations to do every week and is certainly keeping me on track to stamp. I love it!
So this week, it's a sketch challenge - we all love these and they are a great step to making a beautiful card. So here is the sketch we had to work with:

I couldn't go past colouring in a stamped image this week, so I chose A Kind Word. I love these images to colour, particularly when stamped on watercolour paper.

I've used the Walk in the Park DP, so that has been the basis for my colour combo: Baja Breeze, Cameo Coral and Basic Grey.

I've layered up the various cardstocks and DP as per the sketch.

Then I've stamped the image onto watercolour paper and coloured in using my ink pads and aqua painter. This gives a lovely, soft look!

For the little extra strip that goes across the card, I've used my eyelet border punch and then tied some twine and a pearl around it. Here's a closer look at some of the detail:

Sketch challenges are also just FABULOUS for scrapbooking and you all know that I LOVE scrapbooking. So I've flipped the sketch to one side and used this picture of my handsome son on his 10th birthday.

It's an 8x8 layout and I have used a 5x7 photo, so it does take up alot of the page. But with this sketch it worked perfectly.

I've used a Kraft base and stamped up with the Sprinkles stamp set. Then I've matted the photo onto some White and Night of Navy cardstock.

For the three squares, I've used Pacific Point and Good Morning Sunshine DP - I thought the little owls were just cute. On one of the squares, I've folded a small piece back to reveal the number '10'!

I've added some rub-on's which you can see better in the picture below and some paper piercing which really finishes off the page.

Here we are, back again with 'Pic of the Week'. Father's Day has just been and I always try to take a picture to remember the day. So here are my four beautiful boys with their amazing dad.
Come back later on in the week to see this picture in a scrapbook layout.

Inkspirations Inspiration Challenge #12

It's time for another Inspiration Challenge. Here is the picture, a lovely quilt with some very bright colours.

And here's my creation:

So how did this inspirational picture inspire me to create? Well, when I first saw it, I thought Circle Circus, simply because of the circle pattern on the quilt. I went with the colours Pacific Point, Baja Breeze, Yoyo Yellow and Whisper White.

I started off with a base card in White, then added a layer of Pacific Point. Then with a strip of White, I used one of the circle images and my Stamp-a-ma-jig, to make a few rows imitating the pattern of the quilt. I've alternated these in the Pacific Point and Baja Breeze.

The I've added a strip of Yoyo Yellow and some DP from Pacific Point.

From here, I've picked up on the yellow cushions. See as I don't have the Yoyo Yellow ink, I decided to go with some white embossing and I believe the cushions have some white print on them! So I used another image from the Circle Circus, stamped in white ink onto Yoyo Yellow cardstock and then embossed in white. I've matted this onto some White and then Pacific Point.

To complete the card, I've added some ribbon with a blue button, some paper piercing and a little sentiment from Famiy Phrases.

I've only used Yellow on the odd occasion, simply because it's so bright. But after using it in this card, well .... it's ok. And I noticed that there's alot of yellow in the clothing shops as well. So I'm pleased with how this card turned out and you may be seeing some more yellow soon!

Birthday boy cards.

'Pic of the Week' will be back again next week - I'm going away for a few days to celebrate some birthdays and see family. So I will leave you with a few birthday boy cards!!
The first card uses Nursery Necessities. This is a great set to use for baby cards or for a 1st birthday. I've used the colours Pacific Point, Bashful Blue and Riding Hood Red. And I've used my all time favourite alphabet set - Tidy Alphabet.

This next one is a Double Pocket card and you can view the tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers.

Once again, I've used Pacific Point - such a fun boy colour - and this time with Baja Breeze and Tangerine Tango, along with some DP in Baja Breeze.

I've used the Wild About You and Family Favourites stamp sets.

I've made my card as per the instructions but have only put a tag in the top pocket. Of course, you could make up another tag or even pop in a gift card. There's so much you could do with this card design and there are plenty more ideas in the gallery at Splitcoast Stampers.

Scrapbooking Pic of the Week

Earlier on this week, I showed you my 'Pic of the Week'. Well I've put it on a scrapbook layout - thought I'd do up a 12x12 page layout.
There were quite a few different colours in the photo, but I chose to go with blues and red with some touches of green.
The base cardstock is Tempting Turquoise. Then I've added some layers in Riding Hood Red and Pacific Point. I've matted my photo onto some White cardstock.
For the embellisments, I've used some felt. I thought these squares with some coloured buttons would add a nice touch to the page. I've also stamped up the branch and small bird from Cheep Talk and also used the sentiment from the same set. The title 'brothers' is done with Tidy Alphabet (one of my favs but retired)
At the top of the photo I've added a strip of DP in Riding Hood Red and some ribbon, then added a quote printed out onto copy paper.
Last but not least, I've added some paper piercing around the Top Note diecut.

I'm really pleased with how this page turned out. I've kept the focus on the picture and used only a few embellisment to add texture. I find balance is really important: so have your photo in place, then add your embellisments, making sure they follow lines.
