she said..

This lovely couple are my parents!!  And I chose this wonderful picture to create a LO for Once Upon a... Sketch - the added criteria is to use song lyrics as your journalling - that was the hard part for me.  But I asked my mum about her favourite artists and she said angus & julia stone - so I've printed out some journalling from the song big jet plane (which I love too).
This LO came together so nicely - I've used some beautiful papers by Bo Bunny - I don't usually use pattern papers in the background, but these really suited the b&w photo!
Here are some close-up's:

... some chipboard by Dusty Attic, trinkets from Bo Bunny, crochet doily, hand-made paper flower and curled raffia...
... some of the printed journalling and chipboard letters by Bo Bunny!
And here is the sketch:
I'll have quite a few LO's to share over this next week (if time allows)  Over the past weekend I attended the Handmade by Suzanne Scrap Retreat and managed to create quite a few LO's!!  Had a great weekend at a lovely location with lots of lovely ladies!!

once upon a time

Recently my friend Leeann, sent me some goodies from Trimcraft and asked me to create a page using these products for Aussie Scrap Source - I always love a challenge (thank you Leeann) and I came up with this page using a sweet photo of my littlest when he was just two.
Here are a couple of close-up's which show the cute chipboard stickers from this range - they are a little whimsical and so I've created this page around that theme.

This LO was show-cased over the weekend and you can also see some fabulous work at Aussie Scrap Source! by Leeann - I just love what she has done with this product!!

memories ........................... and some exciting news!!

My weekly dose of Colour Combo's Galore!!  This is for Challenge #204 with a lovely colour palette that said ' beachy and holidays ' to me - and seeing as I have lots of beach/holidays photo's at the moment, I've made another holiday page from our recent trip to Ningaloo!
The added challenge from the inspiration palette was to create using a grid style.  I've done this with a strip under the main photo - I've punched out small sqaures and also make some windows in cardstock using the same punch.  Then I've added photo's and embellishments!!  Love how it turned out.  And I think it really compliments the main picture.  I've added in my journalling in strips around the edge of the main photo.  Have also done some background painting with a grid mask!
Here are some close-up's:

 ... a little felt birdie ...
... some burlap ...  tiny chipboard from Stuff 2 Scap ... paper roses
... bottle cap with cute little owls ... title from rub-on's
... lots of paper distressing on the photo and cardstock mats ... journalling strips around the photo

... and here's the inspiration board if you would like to play along too!

OK and now for some exciting news  ... Stuck?! Sketches has just annouced their new Creative Team ... and I'm really pleased to say that I've made the team.  Wahoo!!  There's a very impressive line-up and I'm looking forward to working alongside this fabulous team and creating with the wondeful sketches they have each month.  I'll have something to show you very soon for the first sketch that I created with.
Til then, happy crafting.

a perfect day....

I've done this LO for the challenge over at Once Upon a ....... Sketch - with just a few days left, I've scrapped in!!  I loved the sketch design and really wanted to play along - so here it is.
I've used pretty much ALL Sassafrass, including the letters and flowers (garden bits) - love how they all co-ordinate.  Here are some close-up's:

Other bits that I've included are muslin, vintage bookprint, stamping, crochet doilies and some machine stitching around the edges.
And here's the fabulous sketch if you want to play along:
Here's hoping you all have a wonderful weekend - we have a very busy one with family and a birthday to celebrate - my baby is turning THREE!  I'm sure I'll be showing some pics in my LO's very soon. Til then - happy crafting.

a perfect place

I'm back with a LO of some recent photo's of our holiday in Ningaloo - the colour palette for this week over at Colour Combo's Galore #203 was just perfect for a beachy LO - so I've played along!
Something things I've done:  printed a photo onto vellum and used it in the background.  I've added some dictionary paper under this.
...... stamping, a cluster of doilies and flowers, natural fibers of burlap and muslin, shells and chipboard.....
Here are some close-up's:
I've layered some doilies, used a Kaisercraft flourish, added in flowers and pearl pins and some shells from the beach.
A pretty doily with button and a cute chipboard bird - sponged with paint!
And a chipboard cloud - I've sponged it with white paint using bubble wrap to give it some texture, then I've added some stamping.
.... and here is the lovely peice of inspiration for this challenge...
Scrappin' these beachy photo's makes me want to head into some Summer sun - it's pretty cold at the moment!  Now I'm off to clean up my creative space - it's a mess!
Happy crafting.

birthday boy

I'm feeling right up to date with my scrappin' - these are very recent photo's of my oldest son's birthday - he just turned 12!!  I've used them in the sketch from Stuck Sketches!? - it's their birthday month and they have some bonus sketches - I've used the bonus sketch #1 from Julie Winks!
The moment I saw this sketch, I just LOVED it and knew that I HAD to play along.  And I'm glad I did - I had a great time creating this one.

Here are some close-up's:
... crochet flower, doily trim, shipping tag with rub-on's, bingo card, paper spirals ( birthdays always remind me of curled ribbons and streamers, so I've created some paper spirals by running the scissor edge along the paper to curl it) ...
.... have used lots of rub-on's from a birthday theme sheet of rub-on's....
.... misting with glimmer-mist and stamping with paint .....

.... and here is that fabulous sketch if you want to play along too!

Thanks for coming by and happy crafting.  I'll be back with another creation very soon......

let the game begin

Our Saturdays are all about soccer at the moment.  With the first half of the season over, it's now going for the League Cup and Knock-out Rounds - very exciting for the boys.
This LO is using the challenge from Colour Combo's Galore #202!  Can you see I love green!
My base paper is Newsprint - by Kaisercraft, then I've layered with some gorgeous textured green cardstock - distressing the edges.
There's lots of stamping and inking with background stamps and I've used some Stuff 2 Scrap Chipboard too!  Here's some close-up's:
I've used the chipboard circle as a frame to dictionary paper - the chipboard has been sponged with green and white paint - love this effect - I've also added a bit of random stamping.
Some foam alphabet letters and smaller ones from October Afternoon.  And I love muslin - you will be seeing lots of that!!
Here's the inspiration board - I was a little late in getting this one up - was one of those weeks where other things took over, but I'm glad I finished it in the end!!
The new inspiration board is up now, so I'm off to check it out.
After ongoing stormy weather and rain, the sun is shining.......... so nice!!
Have a wonderful weekend and happy crafting.

memories

The first of the month brings the start of all the new challenges - ARTastic have their new challenge up now - the inspiration is from this painting and the criteria is:
* Ribbon
* Child or children playing
* Paint or create your own background
..... and here's what I've created........
I've used some cute pictures of Caden playing with his cousin Dylan - it's great when you get a series of pictures - they tell the story.  Nearly everything you see is from the Emerald Creek Kit by the Polka Dot Place  - these kits are really awesome and  filled with lots of great goodies.
Here's some close-up's:

Lime Tree Creations are sponsoring this month and we got some samples to play with - here I've used a green doily - these are just gorgeous and hand-made too!!
I've made some of my own embellies - like the scallop flower - with the gorgeous pattern papers.
I've created the background using rub-on and masking with glimmer-mist and some stamping too!  And you can also see some of that lovely paper by Core-dinations - just love the embossed textures.
..... and a hand-made bunting with the papers from the kit - have also added in a little birdie pin from the Chip-Chop Shop.

It's a very fun challenge this month and we hope you will be inspired to join in - there lots of wonderful prizes to play for.  Head over to the ARTastic blog to view all the details.
We look forward to seeing your creations.
Happy crafting.
