weaving

 Weaving ............................ an old-age craft which is definitely making a come back with a modern twist.  I've been seeing lots of gorgeous weaves, popping up on Instagram☺

 Recently, I purchased this simple hand loom kit from Typo Shop, so I could have a little play around .......................  I can see it being addictive.

 For my first piece, I'm using what was supplied in the kit ............. though I'm thinking I might add in some buttons.  I'm not following any particular design; just having a bit of fun and seeing where it takes me.

 The kit included three balls of yarn - two very bright colours - and some jute === which is used as the warp thread but I'm also incorporating it into my weave to give it a very rustic look.

 Because the jute is quite a thick thread, some of the warp is visible.  For my next one, I think I will try a white cotton thread and possibly thicker yarn.

It's quite a slow process, but I'm finding it very relaxing and great therapy at the end of a busy day .................................  a great little project to have around the place ☺

currently creative ....

 Hello creative peoples ☺  Today I'm linking up with 'Currently Creative' by Give a Girl a Blog - I find this a fun way to share what your up to and at the same time, find other creative people and see what they are creating too!!
It seems these days, I'm filling my house with crochet - whether that be with blankets or decorative bits ........... ☺
I have quite a few lovely books with plenty of great crochet patterns to try - so recently I used this 'Granny Square' book and crocheted up some covers for glass jars. 

 I used some cotton yarn that I received in my box for October from the Spring Jellywares Yarn Club.  It was perfect for this kind of project. 

 I've used a 3.5 crochet hook as the yarn is quite thin - it gives a lace-like look which I love.

 I intend to use these for my craft room and fill them with pens and other crafty items.  So far I've crocheted up these two but I have plans to add some more soon ..........

This bright orange is some crochet cotton that I bought in Bali last year - I have a whole box full of different colours, so I'll be putting it to good use soon.
I love having some smaller projects on the go ..........................

I will share some more after a little bit more progress.

 Hey there - hope your week is going well☺
Today, I'm linking up with Give a Girl a blog for 'currently creative'.
I have a few crochet projects on the go .....

The first one is this 'as we go stripey' blanket - the pattern for this one is from Not Your Average Crochet!

 I'm using the pattern that she has available on her blog - the width of my blanket being 193 stitches  - currently I'm up to row 48 - so about 1/3 of the way ☺  I'm using yarn from my stash in 8ply acrylic! 

 It's a very fun project - I love the idea of learning new stitches as I go along and it's being a blanket 'full of texture'.
I'm calling this my 'colours of the sea' blanket ☺

 Another little side project I have going is a crochet cushion cover.  It's a simple granny square pattern which I'm 'making up' as I go along.

 One side is nine granny squares joined together with a border and the other side is one big granny square.I've used Moda Vera cotton/acrylic blend in 8 ply and it's a lovely yarn to crochet with.

 To join my granny squares, I've used the 'join-as-you-go' method which creates a lovely ridge!

 Hoping to finish this one soon as my little man is patiently waiting for it - it's destined for his bedroom ☺

And this cute little crochet glass jar cover was a little project I completed at my Wednesday craft morning group that I go to in our town.  I must make more of these - they would be lovely gifts ☺

So that's what I've been keeping busy with, on the crafty side of things - there's been a little bit of art canvas in between - hope to share a few of those soon ☺

currently creative ...........

 Hello - hope you are having a great week.  I'm linking up with Give a Girl a blog this week to share what I'm currently creating ...............................

 About a month ago or so, I decorated the cover of a journal ..... in an arty kind of way ** reflecting the things I love - paper, yarn and paint. 

 I love how it turned out - it has heaps of texture on it, little words and notes and includes a photo of a little spot in my craft room.

 Even the back has texture and words!

 So being my first art journal, I found I really needed some direction and inspiration before I started ........................................
A bit of searching on the net and I came across Daisy Yellow Art!

This one here really appealed to me, so I've made a start, getting inspiration from the prompts and video tutorial.  Can I say, I'm so excited that I've finally started!!! Here I'm sharing what I've currently created on my first page --

 I covered my page in gesso before drawing on the starburst design - I like the way the paint flows on your page when you have gesso as your base.  I've used a waterproof black ink pen.

I've used watercolour paints and crayons to add the colour to my page.
I still need to put in some finishing touches and add a little more depth - but I love how it's turning out. 
I can't wait to share more each week - thanks for coming by ☺

currently creative ...........................

Hello, I'm back after a lovely holiday!  We packed up our camper and headed north for two weeks to where the sun was shining ............................. it was just beautiful :)  We spent our days on the beach, enjoying the warmth.

Now the school holidays are finished, it's back into routine.

Today I'm linking up with Currently Creative

by Give a Girl a blog.

While on holidays I did take a few crochet projects with me ☺  Though I didn't manage as much crochet as I thought I may have done!!

First up I made ANOTHER snood - these are so fun to make - this time I used 8ply yarn in a lovely blue colour with a 4.5mm hook.  I made this one a little longer than previous so I could wrap it around twice.

 I've used rope stitch which has given it a lovely soft texture.

 Next up is a WIP (work in progress)  - this one is going rather slowly so I thought it would be a great opportunity to take it along and get some rows done. 

 It's a chevron stitch in double crochet - I've gone into the back loop on each stitch to create the ridges.

 Most of this progress ended up being done in the car on our way back home ☺

So there you have two projects that I've shared!!  I look forward to keeping you up to date with the progress of the chevron blanket.

 A happy hello at mid-week ☺  Today I'm linking up again with Currently Creative by Give a Girl a Blog.



In between packing for our camping trip and doing my normal daily routines, I've still managed some craft time ☺

The blanket that I shared last week is now 2/3rds of the way - three stripes were added in this week and I just LOVE how it's coming along.

 The rope stitch is lovely and comes together very quickly.

 I also hooked up another project this week.  I recently made myself a crochet snood!  (circle scarf) Since one snood is not enough, I've started another in this gorgeous teal colour.  It's a super chunky knit in 12 ply and I'm using a 9mm crochet hook. 

 Chunky knit crochets up very quickly and I'm already half-way.  I'm hoping to finish it in the next few days as I really want to take it with me on my camping trip ☺

 The pattern is from this gorgeous crochet book, which I can't stop looking thru.  So many gorgeous projects.  Which one will I pick next?

 As well as crochet, I have slipped into my craft room a few times and have been quietly working on a few projects.  I can only give you little sneak peaks for now!!  So here they are.

As we are off on our camping trip in the next few days, I will share more in a few weeks time.
Camping and crochet go together, so I have plans for a few projects while I'm away.

 Hello crafty peoples ☺  Today I'm linking up with Currently Creative - by Give a Girl a blog aka Kellie ☺


Every day I try to be creative, whether in my kitchen or at my craft desk.  This creative project that I'm sharing today,  happens on my couch ☺  With our Winter weather, it's great to be cozy on the couch and crochet. Recently, I started this crochet blanket, using rope stitch which is from this book: Crochet Workshop - an absolutely gorgeous book, a favourite in my collection.

 I'm using yarn that I had in my stash, just the three colours as shown, each stripe is 10 rows.  I'm just over a third of the way and am finding this one hard to put down.

 Not sure what the total measurements will be, but I will be sure to share that when this project is complete.  I plan for it to be a baby blanket to give away ☺

 The yarn is 8ply acrylic and I'm using a size 4.5 crochet hook. 

I look forward to sharing some more of the 'work in progress' soon.
