Birthday bookmarkers

Just this past Thursday, we had the pleasure of celebrating our twin boys 8th birthday!  Instead of making a card that would just get stashed away in a box or drawer, I decided to make them a book-mark - a little keepsake of the day.  So this is what I came up with:
I used one of my new stamps - Skater Ian from The Greeting Farm.  I also got a few more of these cute stamps from Marcia at The Stamp Spot
I made the book mark from white cardstock, then added some pattern paper - June Bug by Basic Grey.  I've added a strip of hessian to give it a boyish feel.
The image has been stamped onto watercolour paper and I've used my SU inks and aqua painter to colour in.  Lots of fun!  The birthday sentiment is from Upsy Daisy by Stampin'Up.
I've added a chipboard letter for their initial of their names - these have been painted in red.
Then I've finished it off with a jumbo eyelet and some striped ribbon.
Here's a closer look at the details:

Product used:
Stamps: Skater Ian (The Greeting Farm), Upsy Daisy (SU)
Cardstock: White, June Bug (Basic Grey)
Ink: Kiwi Kiss
Others: Hessian, chipboard letter, aqua painter, inks, jumbo eyelet, ribbon
And here are the two boys - all happy and smiling with one of their birthday presents.  Aren't they just so cute - and yes; they are identical - most people still can't tell them apart.  I can't believe they are eight years old already!!

Inkspiration Inspiration Challenge #17

Today's card is for Makeesha's Inkspiration Challenge and we are up to 'Inspiration'.  I mostly find these ones a challenge.  Check out this picture:
Here is my creation:
I found the inspiration picture peaceful and elegant, so I've created my card in that way.
I've started off with a base card in White, then layered some Kraft cardstock and pattern paper from Urban Oasis DP by Stampin'Up.
The only stamping is the scripture verse - the Devoted stamps set by Unity Stamps.  I've added some lace and a button as my embellishments.
Oh, the the label is actually stamped too.  It's a set from 7gypsies.  I've stamped it onto some of the same DP and the cut it out.  Here's a closer look:

Product used:
Stamps: Devoted (Unity Stamps), Labels (7gypsies)
Cardstock: White, Kraft, DP Urban Oasis
Ink: Sahara Sand, Basic Grey
Others: Distressing tool, button, lace, dimensionals

I hope you like it.  I'm pleased with the result, even though it doesn't have alot of the inspiration in it.

Card patterns - sketch 46

I love the sketch challenges from Card Patterns and this week they are up to #46.

I've layered cardstock and pattern paper as per the sketch provided.  Then I've made a tag using Soft Sky and stamped with the Sanded BG stamp from SU.  Once the image had been coloured, I cut out and then used dimensionals to pop it up.
I've added some white ribbon, some half pearls and a flower from Bizzy Becs (I can't stop using these - they are just gorgeous)
Here's a closer look at the little owls - you can see that I've added some crystal effects to the eyes.

Challenge #19: Stampin' Sisters in Christ

I discovered a very inspirational challenge blog called Stampin' Sisters in ChristThey have challenges based on a scriptural verse from the bible and what it means for you!  I love this idea and played along with this weeks challenge which is:
Psalm 25:4-5 "Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior and my hope is in you all day long."
The challenge is to create a New Years card or project.
So here's what I've created:

I've made a card using one of the verses from the Devoted stamp set by Unity Stamps.  This is a nice text to think about as we start the new year; and make plans and set goals to achieve.
I've started with a base card in White, then layered on some Pink Pirouette and pattern paper from Basic Grey - June Bug.  I've used the lace doily punch along the bottom edge.
I've stamped the text in Riding Hood Red onto White cardstock, then matted onto Riding Hood Red cardstock.
For the embellishments, I've used the tab punch and added a flower brad.  I've attached a flower to the lace and finished off with three small pearls.  Here's a closer look at the details:

This challenge closes tonight so be sure to have a look here to view all the details if you wish to join in.  I look forward to seeing the next one soon.
