weaving

Weaving ............................ an old-age craft which is definitely making a come back with a modern twist.  I've been seeing lots of gorgeous weaves, popping up on Instagram☺
Recently, I purchased this simple hand loom kit from Typo Shop, so I could have a little play around .......................  I can see it being addictive.

For my first piece, I'm using what was supplied in the kit ............. though I'm thinking I might add in some buttons.  I'm not following any particular design; just having a bit of fun and seeing where it takes me.
The kit included three balls of yarn - two very bright colours - and some jute === which is used as the warp thread but I'm also incorporating it into my weave to give it a very rustic look.
Because the jute is quite a thick thread, some of the warp is visible.  For my next one, I think I will try a white cotton thread and possibly thicker yarn.
It's quite a slow process, but I'm finding it very relaxing and great therapy at the end of a busy day .................................  a great little project to have around the place ☺

I'm linking this post with 'Currently Creative' by Give a Girl a blog.

I will be sure to share some more as I go along.
Thanks for popping by.

creative.ness - the view thru my 50mm fixed lens

The other weekend, I took out my DSLR camera to capture some creative bits around my home.  Creative bits from my boys.  Oh, I love it that they create things ☺  It makes me smile.

This tree in our front yard has been lined with wooden steps, steps that lead up to a great place to play .......................

A little person who loves being with his brothers and making stuff!
A perfect place for those little legs.

A creative zone for the biggest boy!

This piece of twine and mini pegs was placed here in my craft room by one of my twins.  He wrote a little note to say that it was a place to hang pictures.  So I used some recent Origrami prints!
A little creative keepsake from the biggest boy.

There thoughtfulness touches my heart - I'm thankful for these treasures and their creative souls.

Happy Monday ♥♥

a magic time

Hello - hope you are having a great start to this new week ☺
I have a scrappy share!!  I was inspired by the October sketch from The Scrapbook Store to create this page.

I just love this photo of my boys with their dad - it was taken recently on a weekend away at the beach.  We were watching the sun setting and it was a beautiful time of day.
I haven't added in a lot of pattern paper.  I like to work with a white base and create my own backgrounds.  For this page, I've created a mixed media feel in the background.
The sketch shows circles, but I've chosen to keep my photo's rectangle!
Here are a few close-up's:
I love the shine these gold sticker letters give - I've also added in some sequins too.
I love wood veneers - these hot air balloons worked well on this page.
The background is a combination of:  paper circles, texture paste with stencil, water colour paints, mist and ink.

In between a lot of other projects and busyness of life, this is my second scrapbook page for October.  Not so many ..................... but I'm glad to fit some in ☺

currently creative ....

Hello creative peoples ☺  Today I'm linking up with 'Currently Creative' by Give a Girl a Blog - I find this a fun way to share what your up to and at the same time, find other creative people and see what they are creating too!!
It seems these days, I'm filling my house with crochet - whether that be with blankets or decorative bits ........... ☺
I have quite a few lovely books with plenty of great crochet patterns to try - so recently I used this 'Granny Square' book and crocheted up some covers for glass jars.
I used some cotton yarn that I received in my box for October from the Spring Jellywares Yarn Club.  It was perfect for this kind of project.

I've used a 3.5 crochet hook as the yarn is quite thin - it gives a lace-like look which I love.
I intend to use these for my craft room and fill them with pens and other crafty items.  So far I've crocheted up these two but I have plans to add some more soon ..........
This bright orange is some crochet cotton that I bought in Bali last year - I have a whole box full of different colours, so I'll be putting it to good use soon.
I love having some smaller projects on the go ..........................

I will share some more after a little bit more progress.

Thank you for popping by.

precious days

Hello - the school holidays have been and gone ..................... and we are now back in full swing in life's routines and the last term of the year!!  WOW, this year has flown by ☺
This past week, I've been creating a scrapbook page, using the October Prima Sketch as my starting point.
I used a recent photo that is very special to me:  me with my mum and two sisters ♥
It's not that often we are all together, so we take the opportunities and get a picture to remember .
I used the Epiphany collection, Prima flowers and some Prima stamps. There's a bit of texture paste happening too with circle stencils.  Lots of fun little elements - I really enjoyed putting this one together.
Here are some close-up's:

Layers of circles, sequins, flowers, ink and texture paste.  I've used an alphabet die-cut for part of the title == 'day'.
I love the Prima 'stitched look' stamps!!  I've clustered some flowers over some twine here.
Some more layers and my journal strips.

Check out the Prima blog if you would like to join in too ☺   I love sketches - they are a great starting point to a page and for me - one of my sources of inspiration.

Thanks for coming by.

zucchini, chia + walnut cake

Hello - hope your week is going well ☺ We are enjoying school holidays - so there's lots of lovely, relaxed days.
It's time for a recipe share - I've been making this one quite a bit lately!

I remember growing up as a young girl and watching my mum in the kitchen, baking and cooking away.  She always made lots of yummy food!  I think that's where I've got my love of baking from ☺
I have a note book with hand-written recipes - a collection of favourites that I remember my mum making.  I used the recipe below as inspiration for the recipe I'm going to share - I've tweaked the ingredient list just a little ☺

 Ingredients + Method
 3 eggs
100 gr rapadura sugar
100 gr macadamia oil, butter or coconut oil
1 zucchini
80 gr walnuts
200 gr spelt white flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 tsp baking powder

Grate the zucchini by hand or in thermomix - 3 seconds Sp 5.
Set aside.
Beat together eggs + sugar - 30 seconds Sp 5
Add in oil/butter til all combined.
Add in all the remaining ingredients and mix together - I do this for about 10 seconds on Sp 4.  There is no need to over-mix!

Pour into a lined loaf tin or muffin cases - here I've made muffins - it makes 10 large size ones ☺
Bake in 180 degree oven for approx 20 mins or til done.
This cake is moist and tasty!  I love it with a dollop of butter ☺ Enjoy for a yummy morning tea with coffee or tea.

I hope you will give these a go ..................................
Enjoy the weekend and I'll be back next week with something creative.

crochet

 hello + happy October ☺
I have a scrap page to share - it's been 'hanging around' on my desk for a few weeks - I did start it for a challenge but it got left behind ........ the other day I decided I should finish it!!
It's a page about one of my favourite hobbies at the moment ☺ Crochet!!  This was a small project that I made - a snood - I love these colours and wanted to record a few thoughts about this hobby.
I've used bits from Heidi Swapp with the tags, colour shine and frames.  The silver stickers are also from her collection.
Here are some close-up's:

So another scrappy page done.  I hope October will bring plenty more ☺
