wip wednesday

Hello.  Today is Wednesday and it's the day I go to craft morning at a local church.  I've been working on this 'chunky knit' blanket for one of my boys, so thought I'd share it here for WIP Wednesday
I've used some 12 ply in the grey and turquoise and the white is a cotton yarn that I bought in Bali - so the blanket will have some interesting texture with the different yarns.
The stitch is double crochet - I've alternated between the back loop and the front loop, every ten stitches.  Really easy and it creates a nice pattern.  I think it really suits the chunky knit!
I won't have too long to go before I'll crochet the border and then sew in all the lovely loose bits of yarn.  Always the fun part of the project!
I'll be sure to share a picture when it's done.

grateful == the scrapbook store sketch challenge

Hello there - hope you are having a good week.  It's gorgeous and sunny here and I think Spring is on the way ☺
Today, I'm popping in the share my page for the challenge at The Scrapbook Store - I always love their sketches and this one is just lovely.

August 2015 Sketch Competition
Here's what I've created - I've flipped the sketch over to one side to allow for a landscape photo.

With the doilies and flowers in the sketch as my inspiration, I decided it was a good excuse to make a pretty page - I haven't used Prima in a while, so I pulled some papers and flowers from my stash.  I really enjoyed the process!
I've also used a doily stencil to add in some texture and added in colour with paint.
I purchased some glitter paper by American Crafts in Silver and used my die-cut words to create the title.  I love the sparkle it adds to the page.
Well, I'm off to link this one up and hopefully squeeze in a bit more scrapbooking before the end of the month.

show us your stuff - august challenge

Hello there.  I decided to have a go at the Show us your stuff August challenge - they have a mood board with some lovely colours and textures to play around with.

Here's what I've come up with:
I was inspired by the colours, wood elements and the rulers.
I've used a very recent photo of my youngest on his 7th birthday!
Here are some close-up's:
The star is a handmade embellishment by Charms Creations.  I also had these cute mini wooden rulers in my stash; perfect for this challenge!
In the background, I've randomly adhered alphabet thickers with a hessian look for some added interest and texture.

I've been having a play around with Deco Foil by iCraft - using the Heidi Swapp 'happy' die, I've cut out the word onto double sided paper and then applied the foil.  It's a lot of fun and I can't wait to get some more colours ☺
I've also made a 'faux flair' - a little stamp and a punch with a clear flair sticker!

Hoping to fit a few more challenges in this month - it's been fun to just create!!
Thanks for popping in ♥

scrap the boys - august challenge

Hello - have you seen the Scrap the Boys August challenge.  Our inspiration is the quote below and this time the mumma's can be in the photo too ☺

Here's is my page for the challenge:

I've used a photo of hubby and I with our youngest lad; also our baby ☺
"yep, he will always be our little lad"
I've gone with a rather neutral colour tone to reflect the setting of the photo - and I've just added in some pops of colour with embellishments.
Here are some close-up's:

Pop over to the blog to join in with the challenge - there are a couple of very cool prizes up for grabs.  Also see more inspiration from the Design Team ☺
We hope you can join in the fun this month ♥

fabric and rope bowl

Hello ☺  I recently received a copy of the latest Tickle the Imagination magazine - such a delightful read.  Gorgeous projects and great inspiration for the crafty soul.
This edition had instructions of how to make fabric and rope bowls.  It looked like fun and something I could do with my limited sewing skills ☺

I gathered strips of fabric from my stash and also found a rather large spool of cord thanks to my oldest lad - perfect for this project.

The instructions are clear and include lots of pictures as you go along.  It's a fairly easy project - just a bit fiddly to start off with.  By the third one, it was a breeze!

I went with smaller baskets - they all turned out different and it was fun to play around with the styles.
So they will be perfect to store small scrapbook items.  They also look great on display.
I can see myself making up a few more of these very soon.  And they don't take very long to sew up.
That was a fun project to share!
If you like some inspiration - check out the magazine!

30 days - project life #hscapturelife

Hello there.  I've been joining in with the #hscapturelife project - Each day on Facebook, I've been sharing my picture using the provided prompt.  It's been fun!
I decided to put them in an album as I go along ...................
I'm using the Sn@p 8x6 binder in teal
along with a Sn@p set that I had purchased with the album.  It comes with assorted sized cards, words and some fun embellishments.
It comes with some chipboard inserts, which I've embellished with some of the cards and a wood veneer.
Here's a little look at some of the pages I've completed -- for some of the days, i've included more than one photo.  I'm intending this album to be about each day in August, even though I'm following the prompts.

I'm keeping it very simple - that way I know I can hopefully have a completed album at the end of the month ☺
I hope to keep you up-to-date each week on my progress.

sassy scrappers - august challenge

Hey there, I've been having a play with some scrapbook challenges this week.  Today I'm sharing one I've done for Sassy Scrappers - they have a fun and bright mood board and I really love recipe challenges.

August Recipe Challenge
Here's my take on the challenge:
I turned the big 40 last week and my sister took this picture of me - it was a good excuse to do a fun, girly page!
Most of the products on this page are Heidi Swapp.
Here are a few close-up's:
For the watercolour background, I've sprayed two colours of Colour Shine = Citron + Pink Rose onto some clear acetate - then I've also spritzed with a small amount of water.  I've placed my white cardstock over the acetate and pressed down to transfer the colour.
I've also used a stamp to create the 'splattered look', using the same technique - dipping the stamp into the Colour Shine.
I've used enamel dots but also made a couple of my own using a 1" circle punch, paper and the clear flair dots - I love doing this as I can co-ordinate to my papers.
I've also used black thickers and the 'fabulous' word is Kaisercraft die-cut.

Loved putting this page together - I hope to be back soon to share some more scrappy goodness ♥

scrappy canary - globe trotter kit

Hello there.  I'm just popping in to share my pages that I made with the Scrappy Canary Kit - Globe Trotter.  It was a great travel themed kit with lots of fun embellishments.

These first two pages are of our recent trip to Bali - the photo's suited lots of the embellishments and words in the kit.
This page is of a camping trip earlier in the year - I've used a few bits from the Crate paper collection - I just LOVE that wood veneer caravan.
Here I've just used some of the papers and other bits in the kit to create this page of me and my thoughts.  I always like the journalling process and being able to record 'stuff'.

Well this is a 'wrap up' for Scrappy Canary - they will be taking a few months break.  I've really enjoyed working with the kits and will miss using all the fabulous new products.
