Lets Get Shabby Challenge #21

It's the weekend - YAY - we are having a spell of very hot weather here in the West - yesterday I had a lovely day crafting with a friend - it was nice to stay in the cool and just enjoy some cardmaking.
As previously mentioned, I'm guest designer over at Let's Get Shabby!!    The challenge is to use Lace & Denim in your creation - such a great challenge as I love both of these and had a great time getting this LO together.  Thanks for having me ladies!  It's lovely to work with such a talented bunch - there creations are really just BEAUTIFUL.
Here's my LO:

This is a picture of my and hubby taken by my sister who is just amazing behind the camera - I love how she made the picture look a little vintage.  There's some lace and denim going on in the picture too!
I've used a Webster Page as my base - Your Life. Beautiful. Here are some close-up's:
Here you can see the lace and denim detail - I've stitched in the middle of the denim to create a ruffle.
I've added the chipboard branch from Stuff 2 Scrap to the top of this with pearl sprays and flowers.
Matha Stewart butterfly with sprinkles of tiny crochet flowers, pearl hearts and rhinestones.
The large flower is by Prima and I've also used some ruffled lace along the bottom edge - lots of pretty things happening in this LO.
I love how it turned out and it was great to play around with some 'girly' embellishments and make it all beautiful.
Pop over to the Let's Get Shabby blog to view details of this challenge - My Etsy store - Creative Bits is sponsoring this challenge so we would love to see you join in.  I'm looking forward to seeing all your lovely creations.
Have a great weekend and happy crafting.

Sponsor news

Some exciting news - My Etsy shop - Creative Bits is going to be sponsoring the next challenge over at Lets get shabby

The new challenge will be up tommorow, so be sure to head over and check out the details - I'm also guest designer so I will be sharing my scrapbook LO with you soon.  I have a lovely prize pack on offer, so I hope you will come along and join in the fun - I think you will all LOVE this challenge.

Creative Bits Sketch Giveaway.

As part of the 1st year celebrations for Creative Bits - we are having a giveaway!!  How would like to have the opportunity to receive this package of sweet doily delights, lace trims and twine??

Here's what you need to do:  create a scrapbook LO using this sketch that I've designed - you can interpret the sketch anyway, meaning you can rotate it if you wish.  It's a simple sketch, so that leaves room for adding in lots of goodies - I'd love to see some hand-made items and idea's!  But it's not a requirement.  Just use the sketch and have fun with it.
Please be a follower of my blog too, so you can keep up to date with new items coming into the shop and creative idea's from my blog.
Here's my sample for this sketch:

Using some more cute pics of my little one!!   I've used pattern papers from October Afternoon.  In the BG I've used a large BG stamp from Stampin'Up - Woodgrain and then stitched around this with the sewing machine.  I'm really enjoying getting out my stamps and adding little bits to my LO's.
Here's some close-up's of the details:
Here I've used the Fiskars Grass Border punch and attached a mushroom button from the Chip-Chop Shop.  The cut-out of the little vintage boy is some fabric from my stash.
We have a honey pot tree designed by Leeann Pearce from Stuff 2 Scrap - I've coloured in some parts, sponged the edges and then added some buttons.
Here I've got a white doily, then added a ruffled heart made from an old dictionary and added in a small owl button.
The title is some foam letters - you can also see how I've double layered the picture and curled the edges - have added this detail into the sketch too.

I hope I've inspired you to join in with this fun sketch and giveaway.

Sketch closes 17th March - please leave a link to your creation in the comment section.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what you create and choosing a winner.
Thanks for coming by and happy crafting.

Cheeky Smile

Hello and I hope you are all having a great week - we are getting some rather warm weather, so am trying to stay cool.  Today I'm sharing a LO that I've created for the latest reveal at CCG #180 - the colours are very fun this week.
Here's my LO:

I snapped these cute pics of my baby boy just a few weeks back and I just love that cheeky smile!
Here's some close-up's of the details:
A stamped frame with some little letters from Adornit - Carolee's Creations.  The heart embellishment is three hearts ruffled up together, then stapled in the middle.  I've also added a small rhinestone.
You can also see some dotted hearts stamped as a BG onto some of the papers.
My little owl button - hand-stamped onto calico - I've layered some small doilies and then attached to the bunting.
Some more crochet hearts - these are so fun to make - I've added buttons to the centre and to this one pictured, I've used a birdie pin from the Chip-Chop Shop.
The Large Heart Border is from Stuff 2 Scrap!!  I've left it raw, just sponging the edges - then I've added some heart stamps and also the crocheted hearts.

I'm really happy how this one came together, even if it did sit on my craft table for a few days!  Hope to be back with some more soon.
Thanks for poping in and happy crafting.

Thankful

Happy Friday - hope you are having a good one and getting ready for the weekend.
Just sharing a LO I started earlier on this week - it was intended for the Colour Combo's Galore #179
but I didn't get to finish it on time.  Still, I wanted to share, because it's not often I scrap a picture of me and hubby.  So here it is:

I toned down the pictures so they were mainly B&W, just keeping some natural skin tone colours.  I found the perfect piece of BG paper in my stash, so that set the rose tone!
Here's some close-up's:
I found a You-Tube Video showing these cute little crochet hearts, so I've been having the most wondering time creating these.  They are really quite addictive.  I've added buttons to the centre - but you can leave them plain too.  Best thing is, they take about TWO minute to make - and you have a great little embellishment ready to use!
The little letter stickers are by October Afternoon.
Some journalling and a few rolled up edges - I love this layered look.
A little birdie button in black which you can find in my Etsy store and some sprinkles of tiny crochet flowers.
I must say that I love the way this came together and it's a recent picture too, so one for this years album.
Have a wonderful weekend and happy crafting.

Celebrating One Year at Creative Bits.

Today we are celebrating one year at Creative Bits.  It was ONE year ago that I opened my Etsy store!  Time flies by so quickly when you are busy and enjoying the creative process.  I've had the most wonderful time making things for my shop and have had great pleasure in sending these lovely bits and pieces to someone who loves 'hand-made' items.

So today we are having a ONE day sale - for today only, my coloured packs of doilies will be reduced to $3.00 US.  And for each order I receive today, you will receive a special gift - a bundle of my twine in red/blue/green/pink as pictured below.
There's new flowers and embellisments that have recently been added, so be sure to pop past the shop and check it out.
A big thank you to all those lovely people who buy from my Etsy store - I appreciate your support and look forward to sharing many more lovely hand-made goodies.

Lollipop Ladies Challenge #14

Hello and hope you are all having a good week so far - it's time for another challenge over at the Lollipop Ladies - #14 - here is the inspiration picture and we have the added bonus theme of hearts!!
 And here's my creation:
I've gone with a scrapbook page today and have included some hearts on my page - a paper lace doily heart and a heart shape made with sweet buttons.
This picture is of my mum and her girls - taken last year and have finally got the opportunity to scrap it - and it was great to do a girly page for a nice change!!
Here's some close-ups:
Small sweet buttons to make up the heart shape!
A bird chippie from Stuff 2 Scrap - I've covered it in pattern paper, sanded the edges and sponged, then added a rhinestone as the eye.
I've also used lace doily trim and some sticker letters by October Afternoon.
Pattern paper from Sassafrass - Cherry Delicious - and these papers are delicious - I've cut some of the details out and then added flowers, butterfly and some bling.
A crochet flower from a give-away I received - I've topped it with a button flower from Sassafras.  Love this stuff.

So that's my take on the challenge - hope you like.  Head over to the challenge blog to view all the details if you would like to join in the fun.
This is my last creation as Design Team member for the Lollipop Ladies - I've had the most wonderful time in the past six months - the challenges have been heaps of fun - so thanks Sammi and Marcia for having me - now I can't wait to see who the next Design Team will be - hopefully I get a chance to play along in some of the new challenges.

Have a great day and happy crafting.

Growing up!!

Happy Friday - once again, it's come around fast!  Today I have a LO to share and I've used the February sketch from Handmade by Suzanne:

 So here's my LO:
I've used some 'fresh', recent photo's of my oldest boy who just seems to be growing up too quickly.  Wish he could stay the age he is!!  I think these photo's capture him well in his 'cool' ways.
You can just see some October Afternoon Schoolhouse papers peaking out - I've used my Nesties to get the cut-out shape!  Lots of inking going on in Espresso ink.

I can't do a LO without some fabulous chipboard by Stuff 2 Scrap - this is called Square It and you get two strips in the pack.  I've sponged the edges in espresso ink and then threaded thru some black/white twine and finishing off with a button.
A big cute button from Lil Red Rocket!!
A cut-out from a story book page - I've placed this onto a white doily, then used my new grass border Fiskar punch which I purchased from Handmade by Suzanne!
I LOVED working with this sketch - I love having some white space around the main focal point.

Thanks for coming by and happy crafting.

Creative Scrapper - Sketch #142

I joined in with the sketch challenge this week over at Creative Scrappers - here is the fabulous sketch to work with:
And here's the LO I came up with: Behind the scenes - backyard soccer
I used some fabulous pictures of my boys - they love their backyard soccer.
The papers are by October Afternoon and I've used a Martha Stewart punch - daisy fan.
There's lots of sponging going on - I used Espresso ink to darken the edges.
A chipboard title - painted red and lightly sponged - then I've embossed using my Cuttlebug - I love the effect of this. Chipboard is from Stuff 2 Scrap!!
And another chippie - a journalling block - great for adding titles or handwritten journalling.
Some of the other goodies are some bright buttons from the Chip-Chop Shop and red/white twine from my Etsy shop!

Thanks for coming by and happy crafting.

The Colour Room #44

YAY, I've finally joined in with The Colour Room challenges - each week I get the email updates of the newest challenges - I decided it was time to have a play - here is the colour palette #44:

... and here's what I've come up with.
So the idea behind this one is monochromatic - I thought this photo suited perfectly with the green background.  I've double-layered the white background - distressing the edges on the top layer.
Following the sketch from the palette picture I've added in lots of embellies.
Here's some close-ups:

Here I've used the Chipboard corner flower from Stuff 2 Scrap - I've painted it white then lightly sprayed with glimmer-mist - from here I've added in buttons and flowers to embellish.
Here I have a hand-made flower by me.  Next to this I've stamped up a vintage frame and added some flowers to this.
The title is some foam letters.
I really enjoyed this challenge and especially the monochromatic theme -

Til next time - happy crafting.

Stuff 2 Scrap - Scrappy LO

Happy Friday!! I love Fridays - they have that relaxed feel about them knowing that there's no school routines for the next few days. Today I have a scrappy LO to share using some fabulous chipboard from Stuff 2 Scrap. I'm wading my way thru the pile of goodies we received and used some on this LO:

I've used a white 12x12 base on which I've lightly sprayed some glimmer-mist.  Then I've taken some twine and stitched it using my sewing machine - if you have the twine between the guide foot, then as you go along, the twine just follows along and gets stitched in place - really easy and fun - i think it helps that this twine is a little thicker.  I've used the green/white here - check out my shop which has lots of different colours.

Here's some close ups:

Here I've used the chipboard Story Block #2 - I've poped out some of the smaller stars and glued them above the block and also stitched in some star buttons.  I've sponged the edges and used it as part of my title with some small Carolees Creations alpha's.  I've added some chucky glitter and Stickles to the stars too.
Here I've used a chipboard word 'dream' - first up I've painted the word in blue and then I've added some gloss to make it shine - it looks great and I've managed to capture some of that shine in the picture too.
Here's a cluster of assorted embellies - I've love putting them together - there's a hand-made flower by me, a big birdie button from the Chip-Chop Shop and a spotty button from Lil Red Rocket.  And of course I've added in a doily and some doily trim!
Hope you like - pop over to Stuff 2 Scrap  to check out all their fabulous products.
Happy crafting.
