Friday Sketch from Amy

It's been a little while since Amy from Prairie Paper & Ink has posted a sketch - but she has one for this week and you can check out the details here

Here's the card I came up with:
I've used this cute image - it's Sparkle Thistleweed - one of the Sweet November Stamps from CC Designs.  First time I've inked this one up - she is rather sweet!
I've used a white card base in a standard card size.  The pattern paper is from Basic Grey - Lemonade - these 6x6 pattern paper pads are just great for card-making.  I'm getting quite a collection.
I've coloured the image with my Copic markers - I've used the Colourless blender on her hair and I love the way it's finished up.  She has a bit of sparkle on her wings.  I've poped up the image on a paper lace doiley.
I've added some ribbon, a 'happy birthday' sentiment and some pearls to finish off.
Here's a closer look:
Thanks for the fun sketch Amy - I hope you come up with some more soon.
Thanks for poping by.

Your home.......

I'm back to share a LO with you for my scrapbook album - this will most likely be the first page, seeing as it was taken in the beginning of Jan.
This one came together nicely - it has a bit of randomness about it.  The centre photo has been matted onto a piece of cardboard - just to give a rustic 'boyish' feel to the page.  Then I've also added a circle doily behind this as a centre piece.  This is actually a remnant (the centre has been cut-out for another purpose) Even though the centre is missing, it still makes a fabulous mat for your photo's!

I've cut out a piece from some pattern paper and matted this onto some red cardstock, then added some faux stitching to the bottom edge.  You can see some stamping in the backgroud - this is a doily stamp which I've inked up in Not Quite Navy to match the cardstock.

I've used some buttons for embellishments - check out the little owl button - isn't it just adorable - this one is from Lil Red Rocket.  They are super cute.
Thanks for coming by.  If you love the idea of using remnant doilies and trims, I have some in my Etsy store - there's lots of pretty colours and natural white.

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #39

Hope you are all having a relaxing weekend.  One more week and we have school holidays here - a two week break for the kids.  We plan to go camping with the boys and I'm really looking forward to that.  Will be great to have a more relaxed routine for a bit.  The boys are so excited to be camping out in our new camping trailer.  I can see some camping LO's coming up soon.

Anway, I'm here to show you my card for the latest challenge over at Magnolia Down Under Challenges.  I'm really enjoying working with the challenges that Kel has come up with - this weeks was so much fun and I'm sure you are all going to love it.
You need to create a card with Stitching - either fake or real!!
So here's my card:
I recieved this cute stamp in the mail this week which I had ordered from Kellie, along with some gorgeous new papers and flowers.  Wow, they are so pretty!
This is Tilda with flowing hair - the pattern papers are from the Some Bunny Loves You pack.
This card measures 13cm x 13cm and I've used a white base, then layered on the pattern paper.  I've used my 'mini' sewing machine to do the stiching around the edge of the pattern paper.
I've used a paper lace doiley and some doily trim in yellow from my stash of ever growing colour doiley remnants.
Tilda has been coloured in with Copic markers.
For the embellishments, I've used a leaf and rose and I've made my own buttons from embroidery fabric - they turned out rather sweet and were perfect to use for this challenge with stitching.
Lastly I've added a small sentiment from a clear stamp and used the circle punches.
Here's a closer look at the details:
We all hope that you will join in for this challenge - pop over to the Magnolia Down Under Challenge blog to view all the details and what you will be playing for.  I look forward to checking out all the entries.

Inkspiration Sketch Challenge #20

Happy Friday everyone.  It's challenge time for the Inkspiration challenges and here is the fun sketch Keesh has for you this week:
And here's my creation:

I thought the colour palette from last weeks inspiration challenge was very pretty with the greens and purples, so I've used those colours again.  But I've also used them because I got the 6x6 pad of pattern paper from Basic Grey - Lilac Avenue Collection.  It's stunningly pretty!
My base card is Certain Celery and then I've layered paper according to the sketch.
This cute image is from Tracey over at Spesch Designer Stamps - this one is a digital stamp called Penny.
She has heaps more adorable images to choose from so pop over and have a look.
I've coloured her in using my Copic Marker pens and added glitter to her skirt.
I've added a paper doily in the background and also some doily remnants and doily flower with button as embellishments.
I've decided not to add a sentiment for this card - it's nice to have some blank cards on hand.
Here's a closer look:

If you would love to join in the fun, pop over to Makeesha's website to view the details.  She will have some fabulous inspiration to share, as well as her Design Team - I have all their links in the side-bar - be sure to check them out and leave them a lovely comment.
Thanks for coming by......

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #38

Magnolia Down Under Challenges have a sketch challenge for you to try out this week.  And it's a lovely one:

Here's my creation:
I've used Peachy Tilda for this card and my colour palette came from some pattern paper by My Mind's Eye - Bloom and Grow.  The colours are so pretty together and not usually ones you would put together.  But they def. work!
I've coloured Tilda in with my Copic markers, cut her out and then adhered onto the white background.
I've used some of my coloured doily embellishments together with buttons.  The sentiment is from the Best Yet stamp set by SU and I've used the punches to cut out each circle.  This has been finished off with a green half pearl.
Here's a closer look at the details:
Well, I hope you like my take on the sketch - I'm off to check what all the other Design Team members have come up with.  If you'd like to join in too - pop over to the Magnolia Challenge website and you can view all the details and also see what you will be playing for.

Inkspiration Inspiration Challenge #19

Hello again, it's time for another challenge from Makeesha and this week it's an 'inspiration' challenge.  These seem to be the most difficult ones, but I think they are the most fun - it's amazing how you can be inspired by a picture and then come up with a creation.  Anyway, here's the inspiration:
And this is what I've come up with:
I decided to go with another scrapbook page - it's great to be getting them done and I'm loving incorporating all of my fabric goodies!  And I found the perfect photo of Amber in their garden.
I've used the colours in the picture - mainly different shades of purple and green.
The pattern paper is from My Mind's Eye and this is the Bloom & Grow pack.  I've used some Almost Amethyst along the bottom and stamped up one of the flower images from Pocket Silhouettes - this one always reminds me of lavender.
My embellishments are lace doilies which I've hand-dyed, a layered fabric flower, a button from Lil Red Rocket and a heart shape which I've punched out from computer paper - I mass produced the word 'love' and then printed it out.
My journalling is from a computer font and I've used the Lace Doily punch along one edge.  Then I've finished off with a strip of paper and knotted ribbon.  Here's a closer look:
I hope you will all have a go with this inspiration challenge this week- it will be fun seeing what everyone comes up with.
Be sure to link up your creations at Makeesha's post so we can all see. I'm sure she will have a fabulous creation to share too!  You can also view the amazing work from her Design Team - their links are in the side-bar.  We all love comments, so be sure to share them around.

Enjoy the weekend.

Colour challenge winners!

Well, it has certainly been a fun week, being able to go thru the challenge entries and see the many gorgeous cards and creations.  They were great colours to work with and I think you all had fun with it.  It wasn't easy picking a favourite card and I now know that it must be a hard decision to make each week.

So for my absolute favourite:
This is Fiona's gorgeous card - I LOVE the vintage look and she has spent lots of time making this card with all the little details including some colouring on the side panel.  The flowers are so pretty and she's done a fabulous job using the colours - very balanced.

And my other favourite was this card from Shelley:
It's another vintage style card using the same stamp set.  I LOVE how she has stamped on white and balanced out all the colours.  This is something I find really hard to do and Shelley has done a beautiful job, using mainly white and then adding in subtle colour. Sometimes less is good. It's very effective.

I have picked out a few others that I thought were really cute too.  Here they are in no particular order:
1.Kim B
2.Nikki
3.Rachel
4.Sharnee
5.Natasha
6.Helen

Thanks to all who joined in with this challenge - I loved them all - there are so many creative and clever people out there.
Keesh will be up with the next challenge later on today, so be sure to check out her website for the details.  And thank you Keesh for the opportunity to host one of your challenges.

Out of the Hat - Scrapbooking challenge

I recently discovered the Out of the Hat Scrapbook challenges and I'm so glad I did.  The challenge for March is to use fabric, 3 different sized flower and chipboard.  So here's what I've come up with:

For this layout, I've used a photo of my oldest son, Kyle, who is 10.
I've started with a base in 12x12" white.  Next I've layered some pattern paper from MME - Bloom and Grow, green fabric and a strip of a lace doily remnant in a peach colour.  The green checked heart is also a piece of fabric.
I've used chipboard letters for the title.  Using a stamp set from SU - I (heart) Hearts - I've stamped directly onto the chipboard in Sahara Sand ink and then also sponged the edges.
I've used three flowers made of fabric.
Another very cute embellishment is the blue dotted fabric button from Lil Red Rocket.
Here's a closer look at the details:
Another March layout completed - I need to get onto Jan and Feb before they disappear too far from sight.  I'm looking forward to seeing another great challenge for April - thanks girls.

Here's a closer look:

On the inside of the card, I've made a small pocket so you can add in a gift card or extra note!

Inkspiration Colour Challenge #19

Hello to you all on this lovely Friday.  As part of being in the Design Team for the Inkspiration Challenges, it's my turn to host.  This week is a fun colour challenge:

And here's what I've come up with this week:
My sister-in-law has kindly given me photo's of her cute girl, Amber, so I can create pretty girly scrapbook pages.  So for this weeks challenge, I decided to pick out a picture and use these fun colours to whip up a page.  I must say, I am really happy with the end result!
This is an 8x8" layout and I've started with a base in White,  Then I've added cardstock and pattern paper from the Designer Series paper by Stampin'Up.  I've also printed up some of my own paper with the word 'sweet', to use as a background.
For the embellishments, I've used some fabric flowers and lace doily.  These are items you will find in my Etsy store right here - Simply cards & Creative bits
I've also dug out an old favourite stamp set - Be Happy - by Stampin'Up.  This one is perfect for scrapbooking and you can make some fun embellishments with it.
I've also printed up a line of journalling and matted this onto more pattern paper.
Here's a closer look:
The design team will have some amazing inspiration too, so pop along to their blogs and give them a lovely comment:

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #36 & Guest Designer

You know that I really love and enjoying creating with Magnolia stamps and I always try to join in with the challenges over at Magnolia Down Under.  Well, Kellie has invited me to join her Design Team as guest for the month of March.  How fabulous is that?  I'm really excited and can't wait to share with you, my creations for the next four weeks.
So today, the challenge is a really nice one:
3 papers, 3 flowers, 2 buttons & 1 bow

And here's what I've come up with:

I've used one of the new Magnolia stamps from the Raising the Ceiling collection - this one is Love News Tilda.  You'll be able to use this stamp for lots of different occasions.  I've coloured this Tilda with my Copic markers.
For the three papers I've gone with some pattern paper from Basic Grey and a piece of vintage bookprint. - I thought this went well with the stamp!
For the three flowers I've used two blue flowers and make a ruffled flower with vintage bookprint and added  a corduroy button to the centre.  Then I've placed this onto a blue doily.
I've added a button to the bow - this is a clear button with a punched out circle attached behind.  The other button is on the ruffled flower.
And lastly, the bow in striped blue ribbon finishes off the embellishments.
Here's a closer look at some of the details:
If you would love to join in with this fun and pretty challenge, head over to the Magnolia Down Under Challenge website to view all the details and see lots of inspiration from the Design Team. Inkspiration Sketch Challenge #19

It's fabulous Friday and time for another challenge from Makeesha's Inkspiration Challenges.  We are doing a sketch this week:
And here's my card for this sketch week:
I pulled out a Stampin'Up set - Friends 24-7 - and went with a vintage look.
I've started with a standard 4x6" card in white, then layered Basic Gray cardstock and pattern paper from Nook & Pantry by Basic Grey as per the sketch.
For the main image, I've stamped the bird twice in So Saffron and Basic Gray.  I've cut out the bird, then layered onto the Gray image and then adhered onto the cream doily.  I've also added some ribbon in So Saffron.
Two rhinestone brads have been attached as per the sketch too - these are from the Pretties Kit by SU.
Here's a closer look:
Be sure to check out what the Design Team have come up with for this week - sketches are like a blank canvas, so it's always interested to see what everyone creates.  If you do decide to play along, link your creation at Makeesha's post so we can all see.  Here are the links for the DT members:
